The last story ended on when Emilia realized that one of her childhood memories had been altered. Her best friend Stevie was replaced by her mother. Stevie gave Emilia the best parts of her childhood, and she introduced her to her ex boyfriend who she loved so much. What would she do with our Stevie?

His name was Eli.

They lasted for a week. But that week is the reason she kept pushing through her countlesa anxiety attacks and her countless school assignments. She truly hoped that one day he’d come back to her, even though she didn’t know why he had left.

He was the kind of who had his own spark, the one who left gold stones behind.

On the beach, he had taken a stick and traced a heart in the midnight sand. Instead of tracing their initials, he had taken her hands and whispered “Your hands are my favorite part of you.” and placed her hand into the sand, engraving it into the heart. He did the same with his hand, so their handprints were touching in the sand.

When they were curled up in blankets watching a horror movie by the fireplace, splattered blood had randomly appeared on the screen and she had screamed. He had thrown his head back cackling and had said “You are really my dream girl, Emi.”

The day before he left, Stevie, Barnie, Eli and her had gone to a concert together. Stevie and Barnie had ditched the two of them afterwards to go sneak backstage, but Emilia had been too exhausted and terrified. She had encouraged Eli to go, saying she’d be fine. Eli being Eli had told her “No, I’d rather be next to someone who I love now and I’ll love forever than artists I barely know.”

The stars were glistening and the guitar music was leaving sparkles in the air as she kissed his dry (from screaming) but perfect lips.

One last time.

They spent the whole week together. 168 hours of laughing true laughs. 168 hours of living the dream that she thought would never end. She would never forget any of it. Not a single moment.

After he left, it all crashed. Her anxiety came surging right back. She felt trapped, lonely, angry, horrified, and confused.

But what if, she had a complete do-over?

She could get him back, and she would get him back.

She looked her mom straight in the eye, and said “Okay. Take them both away. I’ll be fine.”

Her mom’s jaw dropped “W-What?!”

“Stevie is my best friend, but I always relied on her. Without her, I might be more confident than I am now.”

_And I might not be still stuck on some guy who left me after a week. Instead I could be stuck on a guy who would still be with me at 25, s_he added in her head.

Her mom was stunned “W-wow. Really?”

Emilia was scared, so scared that she was going to ruin her life for good. However, if the risk meant the possibility of less anxiety and more confidence in herself, she was willing to take it.

And it was the only way to save Barnie from getting paralyzed by a girl who he’s known for so long. And maybe get a do-over with Eli.

“Maybe… maybe I was wrong about you.” Her mom mumbled.

“What… what do you mean?” Emilia asked.

Her mom took a deep breath. “The truth is… I wasn’t angry about the magic. I was angry that you never needed me. Since I was a little girl, I had always dreamed of being the mother who guided her child in the right direction. The mother who a child would come to whenever they wanted to let go or escape. And I was that mother for you, for a little while. Until you met Stevie. And I’m really happy for you because having a best friend like that is truly a nurturing experience, but every time you left to be with Stevie, it’s like you wouldn’t come back.”

Emilia slumped lower in her chair. They were sitting in The God Of Magic’s office. After she left the first day of school memory, her mom had sent her back here, as she was the one controlling the memories.

But the usual brightness of the office was replaced by a sudden darkness as guilt wrapped itself around Emilia like a blanket.

“So that’s why you were always so hard on me.” she breathed.

“I was. I’m so sorry that it hurt you so much. I wasn’t trying to, and I didn’t realize how much I did until I saw you witness those memories. I really just missed you. So much. I didn’t expect to lose you so early.”

“You could’ve told me.” she replied hesitantly.

Her mom sighed “We both do need to work on our communication skillls. I’m really sorry.”

“I’m sorry too. I guess it felt like Stevie knew everything and I had to be like her, but now I know I don’t. I’m going to be my own person.”

Her mom smiled and nodded. Then she wrapped Emilia in a hug.

“Okay, are you ready?” she asked, pulling away.

Emilia’s heart started beating rapidly, but she took a deep breath and replied “Yes!”

As the whirlwind started… and as her memories with Stevie were slowly grinded to dust… she realized she had made some huge mistakes in her life.

Now, it was time to do something about all of it. She was going to make the storm turn into rain and then hopefully sunshine one day.💛
