Poetry

**I want to go back **

_No _

_Don’t you remember? _

_Don’t you remember how you felt?_

_What you did to yourself? _

_You don’t remember the truth of it _

_Do you? _

_You weren’t eating _

_You couldn’t stand up without feeling dizzy _

**Yeah **

**Sure but it wasn’t ****_that_**** bad **

_You couldn’t get through the day without crying _

_You couldn’t wake up without puffy eyes _

**But at least I was feeling something **

**At least I wasn’t numb **

_You know you can’t do this _

_You can’t destroy yourself again _

_You just can’t _

_You might not make it back if you do _

**If I’m not going back to that pain **

**Then who am I? **

**That’s all I’ve known for so long **

**And I’m terrified of letting go of that comforting hand **

**Even if it burns me every time I grab onto it**

**It’s a hand I can’t seem to let go of **

_You can’t run back to that safety _

_To that home that you created out of chaos_

_It doesn’t belong to you anymore _

_It’s no longer your home _

_You deserve more _

_You deserve better _

_Can’t you see that? _

_You don’t deserve that pain _

**Okay **

**I’m better than that **

**I’m more than that **

**I don’t need to go back to that safety **

**I can create a new home **

This is very raw and emotional. I definitely understand that longing for pain, something you’ve found a sick comfort in. Yet, you’re right—we are worthy of more and the sun will rise again, even when it feels like the rain is endless. 🤍☀️

You can’t go back, none of us can, we can only move forward. Move forward to a life where the future isn’t so distant and we can feel something other than the pit of nothingness. It seems impossible, but it’s not. We’re gonna be okay. ❤️❤️❤️

I’m thirteen years old. I was eleven when my friend died. I always think I’m over what happened but every time I think about it I cry. It’s so embarrassing because even if I’m in school and I hear her name I cry. I’m just so tired of it 😔 she would have wanted me to move on and not be sad for her but I feel so awful even if I have just the slightest moment of happiness. Now that I’m older I thought it would be easier for me to hide my emotions but now I’m just learning it’s harder. I always laugh the loudest in my friend group and smile when people are looking just because I don’t want anyone to know how badly I’m hurting. And now that school is starting in a week that means her anniversary is coming up and I just don’t want to go to school but if I skip people will know why. I’m sorry for the vent but I thought you of all people would understand. None of my friends do and they try to understand but they’ll never get it. Thank you for everything Delilah.

I agree! You can’t go back to a place you felt horrible in, even if you were comfortable. Anyways, this was nice to read.
