Clementine set up the camera in front of her latest subject, Maxine, who sat patiently in their chair. Clementine had gone mad and it’s trying to find the cure to th newest disease. Almost like yellow fever, but with a few more symptoms, the disease involved a multistep process of getting sick. However, to catch the cold is far too easy. She needed to help mankind, she said to any who believed she was crazy. She wanted to fine anything or anyone who would be “willing” to sacrifice themselves.
“Clem?” Maxine spoke.
“Are we getting started now?”
Clementine cleared her throat and began to talk.
“Today is August 28, 2024. I have with me Maxine Milwood.” Clementine said to the camera.
“Mrs. Millwood, I would advise you to take this seriously. State your date of birth and occupation.”
Maxine a little more serious than before, stated that information, but she sat up straight and placed her hands in her lap. She was also, like the others, scared for Clementine's mental health, and wanted to help her get out over this as quickly as she could. Even if that meant getting into something dangerous, something she had no business seeing.
"Okay, Mrs. Millwood, I'm going to be seeing if this is the cure." Clementine said, holding a needle with a purple liquid inside.
"Could we...um...try something else? You know how much I hate needles." Maxine responded.
Clementine tapped the needle as she shook her head. She held Maxine's shoulder and rolled up her sleeve. Maxine turned away as she pushed the needle into her flesh, piercing her skin. She pushed the top of the needle down to release the liquid into her bloodstream. Maxine's fingers started to go numb then the rest followed. She turned to find the needle on the counter, half full. Suddenly, her neck fell back, she tried to pick it up, but it was like something was holding it down. Her weight became heavy. She was praying her mouth open to let out words, only a few, but to no avail. She felt things, but her skin was sensitive to the touch. She felt hands press up against the back of her head, pushing it up. Her head fell forward, making her get a jittery feeling in her neck. Clementine walked to the front of the chair and crouched down, getting on her eye level.
“Sorry, I couldn’t have you running away.” She said.
Maxine wanted to run, but her muscles were smooth and that wasn’t reversible. Clementine laughed, pulling a sharp scalpel to her neck. Was she going to kill her? No. Never in a million years would she be so greedy. She grabbed onto her collar and started to cut her shirt. It tore like paper, and so did everything else.
“I’m guessing these were cheap.” Clementine said to herself.
Maxine was helpless, naked and seen, like little lambs being slaughtered. She wasn’t safe, but had not way to be safe. Clementine then took out a black marker and dottie lines across her stomach. Surgery? No.
"This is for your safety and mankind. You're infected, Stage Three." She stated.
Maxine's eyes widened. She couldn't be infected.. It wasn't possible. Maxine's stomach moved She saw it. And so did Clementine. Clementine began to cut her Maxine's outer layer It moved again. She cut again, blood leaking onto the floor. Maxine couldn't scream, she couldn't feel. She just watched. They both watched. It dropped to the floor. It was mushy, loud, and crying. They both watched. Maxine wanted to scream. Clementine wanted to smile.
Moisture on the ground as I walk outside. I feel the sweat that is forming in the air. I touch the soil, it isn’t dry, but not wet. This is the time where fog starts to show. The smell makes me feel uneasy. I feel sweaty but a cool of breeze comes my direction. When I walk my feet in my shoes build up water. I reach out my hands, small pebbles of water fall. I feel the air slightly change as I walk, it’s hot and humid. I watch as the cars roll by, the window are covered in fog.
Hello everyone gathered here today. From ghost to fairies, and centaurs to elves. Everyone gathered here today has took time out of their day to hear what I had to say, so I will not disappoint and get on with it.
This realm holds one of the most diverse creatures of realms. It is my duty as a member of this realm to be a leader to protect you all with my mind, heart, and soul. Now I know you may not have heard of me, but let me tell you if you’re here today, you already gave me your respect.
I admire your patience with everyone involved in this process of running for president. I know by heart that some of you have a bit of a short attention span, if a do say so myself. But for what it’s worth, I’m glad to be here to see you all listen.
Now to get on with the political things. This realm, as said before is very diverse, so the environment needs to match it. I believe that with my power as president could get each and everyone of us a separate space to be…us. But I get not all of us would like to be all bunched up together. That is why even though there will be sections, there would be a wide circle for a meet.
Now I’m not talking about a meet and go home, I’m talking a permanent stay! It will be like being a witch seeing fairies pass by Main Street. Now there would have to be some changes to fit everyone. Such as mermaids and sirens needing an expansion of water to swim in. Or centaurs and faries needing a surrounding area of forest. But trust me, it would be a win for everyone.
All in all, I want to welcome you to this opportunity. I hope that you will have a place in my future here.
Lelia look up at her mother, one who had previously looked at her at with disgust in her eyes. Lelia’s tears could fill at least ten bottles. Her mother stood above her, as if she was an all powerful being. She remembered what her mother had said to her.
“You will never amount to anything. “
Her own mother spoke to her as if she never wanted her. She had no say in what her mother wanted her future to be. She tried her very hardest to be what her mother tried to shape her future with. She tried to cut out the pieces of her life she claimed to wish she was never born. All the times she’d cried thinking about how she’d “never amount to anything”.
In her mother’s eyes, she wanted Lelia to be a lemon with all the other lemons, fitting in with society. However, in Lelia’s eyes, she believed that she wanted to be a lemon, fitting in with everyone and everything, but all she would ever be was a lime. She was a lime, green, different, and unappreciated.
"Why is our ship moving?" Aria spoke as she pulled on Jordan's shirt.
Jordan looked over to the glass window to see their ship rotating in a sphere formation towards an empty outpost. He knew it was empty because his mother told him about when he was younger and she would travel in space. She told him about this outpost, Ebon Point I17Y. Earlier that year, he looked through the old photos his mother took and recognized that it was the most haunted looking place, and they were heading right for it.
"We're gonna crash into it!" Jordan yelled, grabbing on to Aria and pushing her into a small shuttle space.
"What about you?"
"I'm going to come back, okay? I just need to check the motors to make sure it's stable."
Jordan moved as fast as he could, though there was no gravity, to the front of the spaceship. He knew that there was two spaceships two meters from their spaceship, but he didn't have any way to contact them. He also knew that there was never going to be any sound in space, so they're trapped. They wouldn't even be able to hear the crash. Someone might get hurt. The spaceship might get hurt, then there would be no way home. Ebon Point was getting closer and closer by the second. Jordan pulled himself hand over hand down the corridor, heart pounding. As he reached the engine room, he found more chaos - panels ripped open, wires sparking in zero-g.
"Jordan, something's out here!" she cried. Working even faster now, he could see the shadowy figure clinging to the hull through her porthole feed.
As the station loomed before them, Jordan gave one last twist of the spanner. With a lurch, the engines sputtered back to life just in time. But their new course was set to dock - directly where that dark shape was attached. Ebon Point grew enormous in the viewport as Jordan raced the engines. At the last possible second, he wrenched the controls and their trajectory shifted just enough.
With a teeth-rattling jolt, the research vessel collided with the outpost. Sparks flew as metal scraped and crumpled. For a terrifying moment, they weren't sure if the airlock seal would hold. But after a few shuddering breaths, all grew still once more. Aria peeled her fingers from the armrests to see they had crashed at an angle, partially embedded in the outpost's outer wall. She floated down to the ground, sort of still holding on to a railing.
"At least we're safe." Jordan said.
Unfortunately, the collision set off something; something bad. A fire burned through the back of the spaceship.
"Are we gonna die?!" Aria screamed as she banged on the shuttle door, almost begging to be let out.
Jordan looked at her, sympathy in his eyes. She was confused, but Jordan knew what he had to do. He had to do exactly what his mother did.
"You're going home." Jordan spoke, pressing a button above the shuttle, launching her back to space.
He placed his hand on the glass, just as he remembered his mother did, as a final goodbye. Aria placed her hand on the glass back. It was dumb. She thought the shuttle could fit both of them, but it was small, with limited air space.
"Make it home, and don't come back like I did, okay?" He asked.
She nodded and the shuttle departed, Jordan being forever lost in the space. He had no help, no sound, and no way out.
I looked at Nova with love in my eyes and vengeance in my heart but fearfulness in her soul. I knew that she was the most powerful woman in the universe and it would be a challenge to support her sacrifices.
"Are you willing to be by my side till you die?" She asked me constantly.
My answer was always the same.
"Of course I will, till our hearts die and become ash."
Each time it was a bit less genuine, and I think she knew. The more time I spent by her side, the more I began to see through the façade she so carefully maintained. Her intentions and her true nature started to slip through the cracks, revealing a side that wasn't too pleasant to the human eye. I found myself questioning the very person I looked up to. Was she really who she said she was? I didn't want to doubt her because I personally am just dirt beneath her nails.
Her powers, no doubt, have an effect on people, but which ones? I mean there's a whole list of powers that I know of. Let me see if I remember anything...
Those are the powers that come to mind at the moment. I'm writing this on paper, hoping to find a way to share it eventually, though I am scared. The fear of what might happen once these words leave my hands lingers, but I know I must try. Despite the uncertainty and the dread that gnaws at me. I am determined to get this out somehow. This truth needs to be told, no matter the cost.
If you're reading this, it means I found a way. Please understand the gravity of what I'm sharing and the rish I've taken to bring it to light. Every word is a fragment of a reality that has been hidden for too long, and I trust you to handle it with care. Use this knowledge wisely, and know that by reading these words, you are now part of something much larger and more dangerous than you might have imagined.
