The Wanderers

“Are all the dead just chilling or walking around?” I ask Leo as we hold hands and walk downtown. His hand feels equal parts hot and cold, like an icy hot. Leo is the grim reaper. I didn’t even know that the grim reaper was a legit thing two days ago.

But my thoughts are going crazy on why there are so many dead people just looking around and walking slowly. And Leo is incredibly hot, but I shoul...

Green Apple

Victory almost tastes like a tart fruit. It’s refreshing like the relief of getting to this point, that it’s all over. The sweetness is the pure joy and elation of success. But it’s the tartness that lingers on the palate, a sour reminder of the pain, losses, and sacrifices it took to reach victory....

Where The Crawdads Scream

Deep in the Marsh, a monster with long black hair and haunting green eyes lives in isolation. When a young man enters the Marsh to learn about the monster, he is found dead. The town captures the monster in hopes of the truth while questions arise on who really is the monster in the Marsh....

There might not be dogs catching frisbees or humans throwing volleyballs when it is dark and cold. During the day, there isn’t much clothes or shoes here either. And when it’s raining, you won’t find anyone here at all.

But more than that, this is a place where ...

Manipulation Saves Lives

Standing here in front of you, I won’t beg for life. I know you have all the power and will choose whatever you want to do, regardless of how I feel. I know you don’t care.

But I also know you don’t benefit from my death. In fact, it is a burden for you. In order to keep my death a secret, you’ll have to clean up my body and the crime scene. That will take time, and you don’t have much time.

First Kiss

He tried not to be too eager. She was obsessed with waterfalls. And he was obsessed with her.

“This is the most beautiful, most astonishing, thing I’ve ever seen.” She looked at him with gratitude and what looked like desire.

Engulfed in nerves and hope, he tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. And then she kissed him....

Ode To Elbow

You are Ellie May, playful and silly.

You keep me warm when I’m chilly.

Biscuits are yummy, but you like dental sticks instead.

You are Big Bootith Judith when you hog the bed....

Typical Tuesday

All I can see is a debate on if we need one cart or two. Grabbing my cart, a lump forms in my throat. I swallow it down and push ahead. I go straight to the side of the superstore where the body washes and such are. One of the wheels on the cart is squeaky and spins.

I pass by the tampons and the make up, each step a memory. The nail polish is especially harsh. It’s on the end of the aisle and ...
