Jenny was screwed. And not in the good way. The ship she wasn’t supposed to be on crashed. Now she had to figure out a way to avoid being found and still get home. It’s not like she was on the ship for nefarious reasons.. she just wanted to go home. Figures that everything that could go wrong did.
To make matters worse there were now a bunch of humans looking around the ship, likely trying to figure out where it came from. Stupid humans.
Now she had to get out of this closet and try to blend in or stay hidden so she could get away.
She reached for the door when she heard someone walking towards the closet.
Crap.
Time to come up with a really good story.
The door opened to reveal a boy -thankfully not a human- she had seen briefly before back at the station but did not know.
“Uh, what are you doing in here?” He asked
Jenny fumbled for an answer and decided that barely coherent rambling would work best.
“That’s a great question. I was just hanging out then everything kind of fell out of the sky and I was like ‘woah that’s crazy’ so I came in here to find a part to fix a thing over there I saw brok-“
“You’re not supposed to be here are you?” The boy interrupted
Jenny sighed, “No. No I am not,”
“Well, come on. We gotta get out of here,”
He’s paddling desperately to get away. The dark of the night does little to hide him from the prying eyes of his enemy. If he stops now he’ll surely be caught. Behind him he can hear the approach of the other boat, seemingly getting closer. He just needs to get far enough ahead to jump out and find a place to hide. But where? The idea started to feel hopeless. He rounded a corner and spotted another bend ahead. If he could get there fast enough he could jump out and run before they got to him. After the left he could continue on his way back to base to regroup. He was going to take them down one of these days, just not today apparently.
She stood staring down at the ground. All the happy moments and shared laughs nothing more than a memory. In the morning she would be gone, on a train far away to start a new life. She would have to leave all of this, and him, behind. She had to come back one last time to the place where it happened. The place where he told her he didn’t want to be with her anymore, The last place he was alive, and the place he would ever be. She turned to leave, glanced back one last time, and said goodbye.
The sounds of the city surrounded the cab. The driver watched passing cars and bustling pedestrians make their way around. It has been a long night and the driver was ready to clock out when a girl rushed up to the cab and jumped in. “Where to?” The driver asked. “Just start driving,” the girl replied briskly. The driver just nodded his head and pulled into the road and started driving north. He wondered what this girl was so worried about. She was sitting straight up in her seat, her eyes darting around the cab. “Do you know where you want to go yet?” The driver tried. “Take me to the-“ There was a crash behind them and a car fell out of the air. A car. Fell out of the air.
