I strolled one night beneath the moon
A zephyr played a little tune
When from a portal it came near
A figure strange, yet oddly clear
Not someone else, they said to me:
_I’m you, from 2043_
Their face was lined, their hair was gray
But still they smirked in my own way
_Shouldn’t you warn me?_ I inquired
_Of cliffs and traps, of paths required?_
They laughed and shook their head with ease

“So as I was sitting there, simply like just sitting there, Rhode appeared in front of me and just kind of proposed to me.”
All the girls gasp, but May nods her head at their reaction.
Continuing, May shifts her sitting position, “Exactly what the rest of the girls thought. You know, I don’t really get it. Rhode literally took like two seconds to think of that.”
“Well—”
“_Shhh_! I’m talking!”

We went inside today
That’s what we were told
When we were playing outside
Enjoying the nice bright day
Go inside
They all told us
So we did, locked in our rooms
And never to come out
Glued to the computer
They told us, keep looking
Our lives revolve around it
Just keep on clicking
Who is the new face
On the flat of my screen?
I’ve never met then before
But they recognize me
Come sit around th...
The earth cracked open yesterday,
and swallowed half the city.
I was late for my coffee,
so I didn’t get a good look.
The sky turned red,
but it’s been like that before—
you know, back in August when it rained ash
and the news anchors wore sunglasses.
Some people were running,
but the line at the cafe stayed steady.
The barista still messed up my order.
I wanted almond milk,
but I got oat again.

What do mean I won
I never expected such a thing
All these lights
Why is everybody looking at me
Oh no

Ah man, I'm confused
I guess…
I'm supposed to walk on stage.
Why did I even come?
One moment I'm binge watching heartland.
The next I gotta…
Imani?
IMAni?.
IMANI?!
How does it feel,
To have won it all?

“ Do you like the rain? “
She asks, as we look outside the window of the cafe.
“ Yes, I do like the rain. Even though my dog drowned in it. “
“ oh. Im sorry. Do you like hot summers? “
“ Yes, even though a fire caused by pollution burned down my home. “
“ Oh. Well then do you like winters? “
“ Yes, even though my father died of frostbite when we got lost in the mountains during winter. “

( not really the prompt but thought it would be really fun to try this theme.)
I tend to leave
Out important details
In the stories I tell
Like how I went on
An adventure and forgot to
Mention I almost died
I once read a really good book
It had an award and
I forgot to tell you I wrote it
I once forgot to tell you
The important detail
I am a horrible storyteller...
