In many ways, love is a competition. You may not believe me, but it’s true. Who does the most for the other? Who says the most “I love you”s and really means it? Who remembers to change the empty toilet paper more often? Now some people think the best way to win is by doing the big point items: big dinners, tickets to plays, movies, concerts, or lavish gifts. And the truth is, those may get you pretty far in the short run. But those aren’t sustainable in the long term. No, the real winners know that it comes down to small, but consistent acts of love that win the long game. A morning cup of coffee or tea prepared just the way you like it, or a small, gentle massage of your back when you comment on your long day at work. It’s in these daily acts of kindness and care that we see people winning at love. And though it may be hard to be beat in matters of the heart, take comfort in the knowledge that when someone loves you in this way, looking to secure that victory, everybody wins.
Something even the gods can’t understand. Personality has its own magic that can never be replicated. Each individual is different in every aspect. So intriguing that even the self proclaimed saints are fascinated. “Come get your theater tickets now!” “The unexpected events will leave you grasping at straws!” The theater was a massive humbling building. Just as every building was. The only thing to separate it was it’s two white coated pillars. Gods pleasured in beauty, but likable appearances were a rarity. Every thing looked the same. All bland. No flavor. This very lack is what made the theater so popular. As routine, the mistress of the sun god rose to escort the actor on stage. The audience would gasp at the distorted, spoiled face. They would revolt with disgust. Many would laugh. The actor would shrink with wide eyes, but the mistress would sneer and kick them forward. Unwilling to touch the ugliness the stood before her, she would step on the pad of their foot with her heel. The actor would scream in pain while trying to crawl away. The goddess of night would show up to take the actor, but not before they screamed for help. She preyed upon the false sense of security when she would save them from the golden mistress. The actor would cling to her. That’s when the show would start. The moment the actor would drift. The sensation of tiredness and safety. The audience would whisper audibly in anticipation. The room will fill with the power of the illusionists son. The darkness faded and the image spread in a formation that looks like sand. The actor stepped away from the goddess, thinking it was a bad dream. They would look relieved and awake. Some would visit their parents or spouses. Others found security and happiness in seeing their kids. Our particular actors rose to find his girlfriend next to him. “Jamie, let’s go on a picnic.” “ Right now? I don’t really feel like flashing everyone.” Jamie jokingly smiled. Mary swat at him while giggling. “You have to promise me okay. This is important to me.” “Of course we’ll go. Just wait for me to get dressed.” The illusionist grumbled and dragged his hand across the air. Suddenly Jamie’s life was fast forward in a blink of an eye. The show returned at the scene of the picnic. Mary lay on her stomach with her head right next to Jamie’s. There was a field of flowers along with milkweed. The audience awed, in the back the nymphs yawned. Butterflies covered them in a blanket. Mary pressed her lips on Jamie’s forehead. It was peaceful. Another grumble and Jamie was on his knee in the very same field. Mary had her hands over her mouth. “Yes. Yes! Of course I will!” She threw her arms over him and cried happy tears. Saint Lizzy looked to her right and whispered to Mother death, “Were you that enthusiastic when the old water geezer asked you to marry him?” “Who do you take me for? Obviously not.” The goddess of night looked as if she was about to blow a fuse every time someone spoke. The mistress would laugh or roll her eyes. At this point Jamie and Mary had two kids with another on the way. Two daughters and a to be son. “Daddy, do you like my drawing!” “It’s beautiful, but I think you should make one for Mom.” “I already made one for Mom.” “ Well Mom has been very grumpy lately because of the baby”. Jamie glanced at Mary and smirked. She stared at him for a moment before softening her expression and sighing. The last show was Jamie playing catch with his son. They were laughing and sharing stories while Mary was hugging her daughter before she went back to college. With a flash of bright light the illusion ended and Jamie came back to his reality. No past 20 years, no kids, and no wife. Jamie made a rustling sound as he reached to his arm and pinched it in silence. The once charming and smiling Jamie was broke. Heart broken was an understatement for how he was feeling. He mourned his Mary. He mourned his beloved kids. The Sun god appeared and announced, “ That’s the end of the show folks, come back next time for a little more dramatic life.” With that he jabbed Jamie and laughed. Jamie’s collar was then pulled behind the scenes and his life ceased. All it was was a day dream for the entertainment of others.

He stepped into a new world of magic and mystery. He still had the looking glass in his hand from when he’d stepped through the looking glass. What a colourful wonderful world of eccentricity. Little fat ty as tall as his knee came wobbling over. They really were very blue - such sad faces one was even crying.
He asked them why they were so sad but they carried on past without a second glance.
“Because they’re blue berries, silly, that’s why.” Said a most beautiful young woman in a gorgeous ball gown.
“You look so beautiful. What a beautiful dress!” He said. And she twirled then followed with a curtsy. I’m on my way to the ballroom. Would you like to come? You do have to be careful not to get hit. Tennis balls aren’t quite as bad as baseballs though.”
From the edge of the horizon, it fell. The ground shook as everything in the night sky’s path was crushed by the stars. As the dark veil fell upon the earth, we all waited with bitter anticipation for the main event of destruction. The moon itself came plummeting towards us. No time left now. After all, it’s the legendary nightfall.
Once upon a time, in a realm beyond our own, there existed a place known as the Realm of Transition. This ethereal realm was where souls journeyed after departing from the mortal world. It was here that Death, a compassionate and wise entity, resided.
Death had a solemn duty: to guide souls from their earthly existence to the afterlife. Death was not feared but rather respected, for it was understood that their role was essential in the grand tapestry of existence.
One day, Death received a unique assignment. A young soul named Luna was nearing the end of her mortal journey, and Death was tasked with accompanying her through the transition. Luna was filled with trepidation, her heart heavy with the uncertainty of what awaited her beyond the veil of life.
As Death approached Luna, a sense of calmness enveloped her. Death spoke with a soothing voice, assuring Luna that this was not an end, but rather a new beginning. Death explained that the transition was a natural part of the cycle of existence, a passage to a realm beyond comprehension.
Together, Death and Luna embarked on a journey through the ethereal landscapes of the Realm of Transition. They passed through fields of shimmering light and crossed rivers of memories, each step bringing them closer to the heart of the afterlife.
Along the way, Luna encountered other souls who had traversed the same path. They shared stories of their mortal lives, their joys, their sorrows, and the lessons they had learned. These encounters brought solace to Luna, as she realized she was not alone in her fears and uncertainties.
As they neared the end of their journey, Luna’s apprehension began to fade, replaced by a sense of peace and acceptance. Death had become a trusted companion, guiding her with gentle wisdom and understanding. Death shared stories of the countless souls they had accompanied, each one unique and cherished.
In the final moments of their journey, Death led Luna to a magnificent gate, adorned with intricate carvings and shimmering with a soft, golden light. Beyond the gate, Luna could sense a profound serenity, a place where all pain and suffering ceased to exist.
With a gentle touch, Death bid farewell to Luna, assuring her that she was ready to embrace what lay beyond. Luna took a deep breath, feeling a surge of courage and gratitude for the journey she had undertaken.
As Luna stepped through the gate, she was enveloped by a warm embrace of love and acceptance. She found herself in a realm of eternal peace, where souls were reunited with loved ones and embraced by the boundless energy of the universe.
In this realm, Luna discovered that death was not an end, but a transition to a state of pure existence. She realized that the mortal world was but a fleeting moment in the grand tapestry of the cosmos, and that the true essence of life lay in the connections and experiences shared.
Luna’s journey through the Realm of Transition had taught her that death was not to be feared, but to be embraced as a natural part of the cycle of life. It was a reminder to cherish each moment, to love deeply, and to live fully.
Back in the mortal world, Luna’s departure left an indelible mark on those she had known and loved. Her journey with Death had inspired them to cherish the beauty of life, to seek understanding and compassion, and to embrace the inevitable transitions that awaited them all.
And so, the story of Death and Luna became a tale of hope and acceptance, reminding humanity that death was not an end, but a continuation of the eternal dance of existence. It was a story that whispered of the beauty and mystery that awaited beyond the veil, inviting all to embrace the journey with open hearts and souls ready to soar.
In the picturesque town of Emberdale, nestled amidst rolling hills and lush forests, a young boy named Ethan had an extraordinary secret. He possessed the ability to transform into a magnificent creature known as a "Fireflyer."
Ever since bob could remember, he felt a deep connection to fire and an innate longing to soar through the skies. On the eve of his twelfth birthday, a peculiar event unfolded. As the clock struck midnight, Ethan found himself engulfed in a brilliant blaze, transforming into a radiant being with wings ablaze.
With newfound wings, Bob could soar high above the world, trailing a mesmerizing trail of golden flames. He marveled at the breathtaking landscapes, witnessing moonlit lakes, star-studded skies, and majestic mountains from a perspective only Fireflyers could experience.
Embracing his dual nature, Bob dedicated his time to protect the inhabitants of Emberdale, using his fiery powers to extinguish raging wildfires and guide lost souls through treacherous terrain. The townsfolk hailed him as a hero, their very own Fireflyer, and Ethan's heart swelled with a sense of purpose.
As time passed, Bob yearned to understand the origins of his extraordinary powers. He embarked on a quest, seeking the wisdom of an ancient fire spirit residing in the heart of a volcano. The spirit revealed that Fireflyers were the guardians of the balance between fire and flight—a balance vital for harmony in the world.
Intrigued by this revelation, Bob delved deeper into his training, honing his fire-controlling abilities while perfecting his flight skills. He discovered that his fiery wings not only granted him the ability to soar but also to manipulate flames, harnessing them for good.
However, challenges arose when a nefarious sorcerer named Malachi, jealous of Bobs powers, sought to steal his abilities. With dark magic and sinister schemes, Malachi unleashed chaos upon Emberdale, casting the town into shadows of despair.
Realizing the immense responsibility bestowed upon him, Bob confronted Malachi in an epic showdown. Flames clashed with darkness, and the skies erupted with fiery brilliance as the two battled for the fate of Emberdale.
In a stunning display of courage and determination, Bob tapped into the deepest reservoirs of his Fireflyer powers. He summoned torrents of fire, creating a magnificent inferno that engulfed Malachi's dark sorcery, rendering him powerless.
“Good morning everyone, we hope all of you are in high spirits as the annual brainstorm approaches us tonight. Don’t forget to go out and grab the best brain you can! I know I’ll be trying.” The news lady laughs, her eyes sparkling with delight.
The camera goes over to her co-anchor who smiles, a waxy smile so close to melting. “I will be trying too, Jamie. Hopefully, this next brain will help me get a raise.”
She laughs again, a bit too forced this time. “Hopefully.”
The screen turns black as Faith presses the power button on the remote in her hand. She never understood why people made such a big deal about brainstorm day. Didn’t they find it utterly gross that there were brains scattered everywhere and stuck to almost everything? She sighs, knowing they didn’t care. Of course, they wouldn’t because they weren’t part of the sanitation crew. It was her job to clean up the brains no one wanted and to pick up the ones left behind. Brains were so gross and if you dropped one on your shoes, well, you could kiss that pair goodbye.
A good brain sanitation worker always wore rain boots but Faith didn’t. Her shoes were the only individual thing about her. She would take the time to draw intricate designs on her sneakers throughout her work days. Yes, brain sanitation workers didn’t just work one day of the year. Brain pickups usually took a couple of weeks and after pick up came sorting. From there, a brain sanitation worker had to do a thorough analysis of the brain categorizing it as good, average, or bad. Good brains were sent off to labs but there were rumors they were actually sold off to the highest bidder. Average brains were put into storage units and sometimes placed inside robotic bodies to help companies do menial tasks. While the bad brains were destroyed as they had no use for the betterment of society.
Faith hated encountering bad brains. Granted, she hated encountering any brains which begs the question as to why she even got a job as a brain sanitation worker. The answer was this. She didn't have much of a choice. Years ago, when her rent due date was a looming cloud, she only had one opportunity available. Everyone around her told her to just take a chance and grab a new brain. But she didn't want a new brain. The thing about new brain acquisitions that no one talked about was the personality changes. Putting in a new brain meant erasing every part of yourself and staring at a stranger in the mirror every day. And sure there were times where she wished she was anyone but her…but to lose herself completely? It just wasn’t something she’d want to risk.
Shaking herself away from her thoughts, Faith looks at the clock on her wall. It was time to go to work and do her societal duty. With a sigh, she grabs her jacket and leaves.
I looked up at the sign on the building in front of me. Ever since I had gotten my super powers I have been seeing things that I had never noticed before. “Super Market, where the best super heroes come for super deals!” As I walked inside I noticed that there was a rack of plain clothes that were advertised as easy to remove and still conceal your super hero uniform without making you too hot. I put a few outfits into my buggy and went deeper into the store. In the produce department there was fruit that looked like it was from a different planet. I picked a few different varieties to try that had signs saying that they were safe for human consumption.
