They were two young lovers. All they ever wanted in life was to live as they pleased and have the world see them as what they truly were: really truly infatuated with each other. Despite this, it seemed society saw them as nothing more than children playing at a relationship. It caused them to fracture to the point where they didn’t even know what love meant anymore. I never meant for it to be this way. All I wanted to do was love her. Because no one cared, I don’t know what to do. I don’t even know if I should stay with her anymore. I wish I wasn’t here like this. At first we had plans for our future but now we don’t know what we’re doing.
Lucas looked back at Mandy before he left. He didn’t want to leave her like this but he knew there was no other way. Against his own wishes, he walked back towards the girl he had cared about so much and gently planted a kiss to her brow. “I’m sorry,” he whispered into her messy blonde hair that sprawled about her pillow. “I’m so sorry.” He turned back and once again turned the knob on the door and walked out. Leaving his life behind Leaving his world behind Leaving his home behind. But most importantly, leaving his love behind.
Halloween was a time of year Annalise dreaded.
Small children would come to her house and knock on her door asking her for candy. Of course she never had any, but it didn’t stop people from visiting her home. This year she had a spectacular plan.
A sign. A sign that read “This house has no candy”. Something that would be sure to drive trick-or-treaters away. It was foolproof. That was until she heard a knock on her door. Sighing, she turned the knob and opened the door. “There’s no candy at this house—“ her voice trailed off as she slowly looked up at the creature before her. A tall man with a slimy, skull-like face. He wore a long trench coat and rain dripped down the sides of his tattered brown umbrella. Annalise screeched out of horror of the thing. “Who are you, what do you want with me!?” She screamed at the creature before her. “I am no one. Come with me.” The creature rasped out. It slowly outstretched a hand toward the cowardly girl. Hesitantly, Annalise took it and followed the creature out into the darkness.
I had been running.
How long? Who knows how long. All I knew was that something was chasing me. Some sort of figure. It made a terrifying sound and it made me feel like I had to run. I didn’t know where I was going or where this thing was taking me, but I knew it was nowhere good.
I felt myself fall onto the soggy grass that had been wet from the rain pouring down on me as I ran. As I fell, I reached my hand out in a desperate attempt to stop myself, but it didn’t work. I heard a crack below me and knew it was my wrist. I screamed in pain before fully falling onto the dampened earth.
I closed my eyes. Gently watching my life drift away. The figures loomed over my body as they picked me up and carried me away.
