I see your eyes in every dream - You see me as a friend. I want to touch your bare skin - You build a wall of icy stares.
My heart goes up and down Whenever it feels you. Yours does not flick a bit Not willing to see truth.
And now I’m sitting next to you. The clouds passing by, They don’t know anything of you, But you would fall for their allure.
You smile and pick the one of them You like the most of all. My weak attempts to show my love Are begging to unfold.
I see your lips and heart my comes to life It’s beating vastly as if wants to fly… To fly away, desert this place of pain So long and desperate, it’s better have the saddest fate.
My mouth mumbles the desired words of revelation, Causing the eyes to cast a look of pain. I see your smile change quickly to the panic And break my heart in pieces at the end.
But now I feel much freer from the thoughts, That poisoned every inch of blood in my frail veins. Because right now there’s no blood left at all So I can finally say last goodbye to pain.
He wiped a tear rolling down his cheek and buried his face in his hands. “They probably don't love me… Otherwise, they’d give me more attention.” the boy thought, sitting on one of the benches in the play area. The colour of his lips turned to a faint purple and his hands were shivering slightly. “Yes, why would the care about me? I’ve done nothing but taken space in their house” were his thoughts, and he took a peek through his fingers, as if accepting, getting used to this information. And all of a sudden… on this empty, lonely play area; where the wind was shaking wooden attractions and raise autumn leaves to the cloudy grey sky, the boy saw a girl. Her blonde hair was fluttering, catching her chin and tangling more and more. The sky reflected in her grey eyes, that changed to flamery orange with the first ray of sunshine through the rainy clouds. She was smiling to the boy and he felt the place warming up in an instant.
“What is your name?” the girl asked, her eyes flickering with joy.
“I’m… I’m Noah!” he wheezed out, feeling his heart beating faster, plumping warm blood in his veins.
“Isn’t it a lovely day, Noah? Are you going to join me in our game?” She said in awe.
“What game?” He wondered. His lips parted slightly as he locked his gaze on the girl.
“I don’t know, that’s why I called it ‘our game’, so we could come up with something together!”
The boy came up to her and smiled slightly, accepting the challenge. They went on swings, drew on the ground with sticks that found near an old oak tree, played with sand… and his troubles started to leave his head, as the passing grey clouds.
“It’s time for me to go, Noah. Thank you for having such fun with me!” the girl said, her eyes beaming with gratitude. She started to walk away.
“Wait!” the boy ran up to her. “What should I call you?”
“Consolation.” She smiled and disappeared, as a mirage by the sea.
And he’s never seen her again.
Her eyes - the shade of luminous amber, So pure, that you see the reflection Of fire with rage and autumn with sun And sweet charm incantations.
The honey poured into a small cup of tea In viscous, flowing demeanour; The sunset that fell on the shivering, deep, And lucid surface of river.
I’ll never forget her tender, warm touch Embraced in a light ray of sunshine. Her sight will follow me through the night, Clearing my way from the bloodshed.
And even though my heart will always be her’s, She’ll never get the idea Of me, sitting here in a cosy, dim light, With a book, saving heartily my feelings.
It was a usual rainy day, so Marichka stayed at home, finishing embroidering a new t-shirt. Her hair was in a braid, but some loose strands were falling to her chin in slight curls, like branches of a young willow. Her face was beaming with concentration, however, her thoughts were far away from this room. «When was the last time this place saw a ray of sunshine? Probably, weeks ago.» she thought. And that was true, the weather didn't change, the rain was coming down from the sky in large drops.
When suddenly…the sound changed to silence. Marichka could hear her heart beating faster and faster, echoing in her stomach. «What happened? The weather has never changed this quickly here…” She thought and felt a cold sweat break out on her forehead. Her hands started to shake, but she made an effort to get up and reach the door to the garden. She slightly opened the door, just to see what was happening outside, her breath warming the wooden slivers of the doorway.
A whirling wind filled everything around, swooping green leaves and flower petals. Behind the cloud, you could see a dark silhouette that was becoming bigger and bigger until the big, beaming with green light, spaceship became recognisable.
Marichka wanted to run away, to hide so no one could find her, but instead, she stayed there as if her muscles were frozen. She silently watched the spaceship land in her garden, her eyes wide open and her heart beating so quickly that Marichka thought it was going to explode.
Three tall, weirdly shaped, green creatures came out of the spaceship and fell to their knees. “Hello, human, I assure you, we come with peace; and we’re begging you to listen to us carefully so we can help each other survive.” one of them said, but Marichka stayed frozen. Her half-working brain didn't understand, didn't comprehend the information. She was just watching them silently, trying not to faint. The creature, talking to her, continued: “We promise we will not stay for long, just until the danger is over. A huge asteroid is coming, and you’re the only one that can help us to save our Galaxy. We’ve found an enormous amount of energy coming from this place and we need to find the source. We’re begging you to listen and agree to our conditions. Do you agree to help?”
Marichka swallowed. She could feel her heart trusting them, even though she didn’t know why. Her body gained a bit of strength and confidence, just enough to nod slowly.
“Okay… Now let my partner come closer and show you the place we’re looking for.”
Another creature stepped forward, slowly approaching Marichka. When he was just close enough to touch her, Marichka stepped back, her eyes showing panic.
“Don’t worry,” the creature said. “I won’t hurt you”. And placed his hand on her arm. And then, Marichka saw it. The lake she and her family went to visit every summer, she knew exactly where it was. So she stepped forward, now full of determination, but still so weak, she started to walk slowly in the direction of forest. They followed her, their large dark eyes flickering in the coming sunset.
They followed her through the wet pine needles and the soft moss full of bugs. They followed her without any complaint, just their silent faces beaming with gratefulness. They walked for an hour and, finally, reached the lake. Full of fresh water after the rain, it was as beautiful as ever. The birds were singing again, excited about the change of weather, the coniferous trees staggered in their graceful manner. Three creatures walked into the lake and stopped in a circle, holding their hands and mumbling enchantments. There was a small swirl first, in the middle of their circle, then it became bigger and bigger until you could see the ground, always full of water. A large flow of invisible energy flew up to the sky, forming a dome around our and other planets.
Marichka was now drained, standing next to a tree, went still and lost control over her steadiness. White stains started to appear before her eyes, covering her field of view; and the last thing she heard was a quiet “Thank you.”
27/10/22 This Halloween is going to be absolutely insane! My mum and I made some ghosts today and Dad hung them around the house, so it looks very atmospheric. But honestly, I am more impressed by the decorations of our neighbours. The house looks like the colours faded and there is a spider web and stuff like that, it probably took them much time and effort to make it look like that. Probably they are huge fans of Halloween! The most impressive thing is the skeletons on top of their roof, I have goosebumps every time I see them!
Gotta go now, need to make a pumpkin pie with my mum!
28/10/22 I love preparations for Halloween, but today was a boring one, had to clean the house! Mum and I cleaned the first floor, mostly the kitchen because we cooked a lot yesterday and got tired so we left all the stuff on the tables. We also went to the shop with my dad, ‘cause we needed to buy sweets for treats and the pumpkin. I saw the neighbours’ house again and they moved the skeletons from the top a bit lower, looks even cooler, but I don't understand where they find the energy to make all these changes, they must be very hardworking people!
I'm tired now so I'll probably go to sleep!
29/10/22 The neighbours moved the skeletons again and now they’re on our fence! I asked my mum if she knew why they move them every day, but she said that I'm imagining things. Did she not notice what happened to them all these days? And I haven't seen our neighbours coming in or out during the day, maybe they are playing vampires and moving them at night?
Mum calls me, gotta go!
30/10/22 I'm becoming scared of these skeletons, they are now in our garden and look so real. I asked both my mum and my dad this time, but they didn't listen and told me to stop distracting them from Halloween preparations! How do they not notice that the skeletons were somehow transported from the neighbours’ roof to our garden? Maybe it's just a joke my parents and our neighbours did to add “Halloween spirit”?
Need to think about it, will be back tomorrow.
31/10/22 It's Halloween and I'm in a panic. Today at breakfast I wanted to come downstairs but bumped into one of the skeletons on our stairs. I didn't see or hear from my parents today at all. They could be downstairs, but I'm scared to go there. It's 18:34 and it's dark already. I don’t think I can fall asleep tonight. I'm still hoping the neighbours will come and collect them because Halloween will be over, right? My hands are shaking and I'm sitting in my room with closed doors. I want to see my parents more than ever!
Hope to get back to this diary tomorrow, but now I'll try to watch some movies and hopefully fall asleep. “Happy” Halloween.
This diary was found in the house of a family of 3 people, who were murdered on the night of Halloween. The parents of a girl were in the kitchen when the killer hit them. Their bodies were covered in pumpkin pie. The girl’s, their daughter’s, body was found under her bed with the key of the room in her mouth. Police informed that the mentioned “neighbours” were a couple that were lost in 1978, and their bodies weren't found. The house stayed untouched for 44 years.
My fingers went running through difficult chords, New passages, voices, and trills. But who knew you have to befriend the author, To succeed in the flow of artists?
Beethoven got deaf and that’s what he wrote, And did it affect his sonatas? But why would I care? Would it change anything In my precious image of flutter?
I cover my ears with biographies his, And play the last piece on my feelings «No, Ludwig did not mean convey it like this» The teacher says, hurting my feelings.
My hand throws away the sequels of his Distressed and intense compositions; I cry my eyes out, forgetting that tears Is a key to losing my winnings.
These long eerie corridors with dusty red-toned paintings and high dark ceilings would give goosebumps to anyone who saw them. An enormous castle, full of secrets, where even strangers wandering in those areas wouldn't dare to look for shelter. It did not look abandoned, the garden was always well-maintained, the windows were clean, and, in evenings, they were lit with candles. But no one has ever left the mysterious castle, and people came up with multiple legends starting with a hidden entrance and ending with ghosts unseen by human eyes.
Inside the castle silence predominated. The only sounds were the clock ticking and the creaking old wooden floors… suddenly, the silence was broken by loud, hasting footsteps.
«SERVANTS! GATHER ALL SERVANTS!!» yelled Acheron, the head servant.
A middle-aged man with tired-looking eyes turned a corner and slowly approached him, adjusting the invisibility cloak with his hand.
«What is it, Achey? Why are you in such a rush?» he asked in a sleepy voice.
«Lord Caedmon woke up,» said Acheron firmly.
The servant’s eyebrows rose and he suddenly got so active that went running along the corridor, slamming all the doors and shouting servants’ names. Fuss filled the corridors, everyone was dashing and stumbling, trying to find brooms and scoops, cloths and scrub brushes.
«Shit, shit, shit!! I haven't done any work in ages, but who knew he’d wake up now and not in a hundred years!»
«Where are all the cups? Are they in your bedroom, Stanley?»
«God knows! Do you think he would mind if we threw away his old cloaks? Moth damaged them really badly»
«And what would he wear? Are you really this stupid?»
«Shut the hell up, it's not even that cold! But if there’s a need I can lend him my hoodie, like, what’s the problem»
«Last time he was awake, everyone was riding horses and wearing top hats, you dumbass!»
Acheron was standing in the lord’s bedroom and wiping the dust off the frames when he heard the creaking of the coffin lid.
«Ahhh-hhaaaa, good morning Achey! How long have I been asleep? It must be close to a thousand years; I've seen loads of dreams this time, most strange ones, really.» the lord said, yawning and stretching his long, marble-white arms.
«Oh, Lord Caedmon! Morning, morning… about 400, actually, but still, we expected you to be with us a couple hundred years ago.» said Acheron in a calm and respectful voice, as if it wasn't ages since his last conversation with the lord. «I think we should get straight to the point: I'm afraid your old costumes were damaged by moth, so, if you wish, we can give you some of those that are typical for this time.»
«Oh, yes, please! Interesting to see what this century has to offer. What have we got? Show me.»
Lord Caedmon was standing in front of the mirror, his servants helping him to put on an oversized black hoodie with roses on the sleeves and simple blue jeans.
«Justin! Bring these Converse of yours, you have the same size as our Lord. Go go go go!! Oh, Lord Caedmon, this hoodie suits your dark hair so well!»
«What a wonderful invention! The fabric feels so comfortable, do all people wear this now?» whispered Lord Caedmon to the head servant.
«Maybe not all, but many of them do, my Lord» answered Acheron, watching Lord Caedmon smiling at his reflection, when suddenly he frowned and looked at Acheron.
«What is that magic, Achey? How do I see myself in a mirror?»
«Oh, sorry, my Lord; I forgot to tell you that we put a special coating on the mirror so you can see your reflection. New technologies, what can I say.»
«Fascinating! This new century is far more interesting than the one I was in before. Tell me more about it, Achey, I want to know everyth-»
«Not these Converse, dumbass! These are blue, they don't match! Bring the red ones, be quick!» shouted a fat woman who was picking socks to go with the new Lord’s outfit.
«W…what is a dumbass?» asked Lord Caedmon in confusion.
«It is… a modern word for a “friend”, my Lord, don’t pay much attention…» said Acheron, not wanting to explain the whole range of swear words the servants could use.
It's been a few weeks since Lord Caedmon had woken up, and every day he learned something new about the new life of this century. Acheron taught him so much and the Lord was so excited about the changes that decided it was time for him to learn more by himself.
«I think I'm ready to face the new world, Acheron,» he said.
«Are you sure, my Lord? The changes could scare or upset you if you go alone.» responded Acheron.
«Yes. I am ready, and I want to learn it myself.» the Lord said, and walked out the castle’s door. He stepped on his hoverboard and said in his graceful way: «Have a good time, dumbasses.» and rode away, showing his bright rainbow-coloured socks flickering in the darkness.
«You know, I have always wanted a sunset to be the last thing I see before closing my eyes» said John, casting a quick look at his wife that was listening with full attention. His eyes were flickering, reflecting the bursts of fiery coloured clouds.
Edna understood the message immediately, and even though it felt like a million needles had pierced her heart, her face showed the same expression of warmth and calmness. The grass crumpled under her gentle touch and her hand found a bunch of wildflowers.
«Then, I wish you to cover me with flowers one last time.»
His fingers started to flee in her hair, making various patterns and adorning them with daisies, celandine and bluebells. When the work was done and Edna’s head was beaming with blossom, he enclosed her in an embrace, hiding a tear rolling down his cheek.
And the couple ended up lying on top of the hill, their spirits merging into a single essence. A warm breeze played with their hair, fluttering the petals in the air and carrying them away to the ruby-red sky. They were watching clouds passing by until the last glimmer of light. And, in the end, their hearts stopped at once.
A single tear dropped into the beautiful lake, uniting with billions of identical water drops.
I loved her. I loved her! I LOVED HER! So why would she do this to me? Play with my feelings when knowing she wouldn’t choose me? Every time she kissed him was another stub in my back, and now there are too many wounds I’m afraid I will bleed to death.
The night provided me with the feeling I needed most at the moment - calmness. The sounds of the wind playing with trees, frogs’ broad choir filling the background, a soft ray of moonlight slightly touching the water's surface. My aching head and bile in my throat finally began to subside, leaving room for clear thoughts and refreshing my feelings… when suddenly I saw a dark shadow passing below my boat.
A bizarre sound filled my ears and for a second I thought my heart stopped. I recognised the voice of my darling. And when my head started to hesitate, foreseeing false, my body had already leaned over the side, trying to find the source.
A quick beam of scales, reflecting the moonlight in multiple colours proved me the body was wrong. And I only managed to take one last breath before her cold, wet and sticky hands grabbed at my throat. The last sight of the moon changed to a bright and warm picture of my family, that, I realised, cared about me more than anyone else. But the next moment, the picture faded and left space to black water and seaweed, clinging to my body. The last drops of blood completed the mix of water from the lake and my tears.
