Longing
Passionate beam upon my aging skin
Numbered days in this body, yet I grin
Shine upon me, my beautiful spotlight!
The brief moments shared are life’s greatest win
I glow upon that fiery gaze at noon
Night, approaches and I wait for that spin
Do you remember me, beautiful sun?
Hidden away like a forgotten sin...
You’re My Sunshine
You are my sunshine that leads everyone
You’re my sunshine making my day better
You’re my sunshine wake me up in the A.M
You’re my sunshine shining me on through days
You’re my sunshine blinding me to red lights
You’re my sunshine disappear randomly
When it’s convenient for you and not us
You’re my sunshine I’ll live and die for...
Vitamin D
In every multi vitamin tablet
In every sugar rushing orange drink
Somewhere on the production line it shines
Sunshine; crushed and sculpted, pulped and bottled.
In the dark corners of the kitchen drawer
In the liquid depths of each fridge corner
As somewhere on the shopping list it lands
Sunshine; priced and packaged, then forgotten....
Awakening
She arrives in purple noir elegance
Deepest hours form fissures her gold erupts
Settling about the land gracefully
Her crown beside her, content in our love
In the distance, comprehends all that gives
She has seen the taking the hurt the pain
Illuminating us all is her goal
The sunshines each day to help us see...
Sunshine
In radiant skies, the sunshine gleams,
A tapestry woven with golden beams.
It whispers tales of a world aglow,
Where shadows fade, and dreams can grow.
With every dawn, a new chance to dance,
In the sun's embrace, we find romance.
It paints the day with hues divine,
A masterpiece of warmth and shine.
Oh, sunshine, you're a gentle friend,
On whom we can always depend.
Your light guides us through...
do you remember?
“When I was younger, there was frozen rain.
We called it snow- it was quite magical.
It would coat the ground, turning the world white.
It was, for me, the mark of the winter.”
“We only have rain now. Why not the snow?”
“The sunshine doesn’t allow for the snow.
It’s become too warm, since I was a kid.
I think you would like the snow. I miss it.”...
I Do Too💟
(Not the prompt)
I recently found a poem that I wrote when I was eleven. I wanted to share it on here because there was something about it that reminded me of you guys💜
It’s called “I Do Too” and I wrote it in the summer at age eleven!
Here goes!
It’s okay
To cry in public
I do too
It’s okay
To wish for gold
I do too
It’s okay
To feel like a devil in a group of angels
I have felt it all
I...
Something Better To Orbit
I awake each morning to the sun’s gleam
It's curious rays seep through our curtains
Greeting our crumpled sheets and snoozed alarm
Redecorating the room with warm light
But no matter how hard the sun persists
It will never outshine your resting face
That escapes from the fluff of your pillow
And stays with me until the stars wake up...
Me And U
Sugary like a freshly made parfait.
Beneath that so devilish horizon.
Where plenty of the nomads longed to be.
How hallowed it be of you to be here.
And me? Merely pushed here by circumstance.
Yet I come off fermented like a gourd,
full of my own seeds of disdain while here.
Longing to have your fated upbringing...
