At crossroads, paths diverge in morning light,
Each promising a future yet unknown.
One well-worn, comfort in its beaten stone,
The other wild, a challenge and delight.
To choose is human, fraught with hope and fear,
We weigh the risks against potential gain.
Our hearts may whisper, logic might explain,
But only time reveals the path most dear....
I often think of nights I spent alone,
Shedding tears in darkness, without a home.
And when I touch the scars left on my skin,
It takes me back to places I have been.
But then I get down on my knees and pray,
Thank God for his eternal love and Grace.
If i’d never given my life to him,
I’d still be on the streets living in sin....
dear _____,
I wrote this poem for you. I hope you like it.
you are the only guy that makes me feel
so warm inside, like I ate buttlerflies
when I see you I want to kick and squeal
it’s weird, there’s just something about your eyes.
and now, after a lot of pondering
I think I’ll give it a shot, why not try?
anyways, I was only wondering
well, will you maybe be my valentine?
xoxo
me...
and when the time comes to choose the next path,
let your mind wander to run thoughts all through.
when i wanted to believe in the wrath
i should’ve smoked my memories of you.
times of change change when everyone is proud
of the work they needed to reach up for.
but when stress takes on a new role aloud
only the dust off my shoes could choose more....
We found out early enough to leave you,
Which was something we didn’t want to do.
So confused, yet hopeful we’d make it through.
Diagnosis not confirmed; yet, we knew.
How many parents make the different choice?
In a different time I almost did too
How many precious children lost their voice?
I am so grateful that I still have you....
Atlas had the world upon his shoulders
Diana roamed the forest with her bow
Aphrodite had her cautions with love
And love is something that I do not know
Neptune took charge of the blue roaring sea
Gaia gives life on the earth where we live
Athenas wisdom was mighty for all
So tell me Athena, when will I fall?...
The lights are all aglow around my home
The smells wafting from the other houses
Fireplaces roaring, as the snow falls
Kids running around in fuzzy, warm coats
Santa’s on his way to town to bring gifts
Makes sure to double check his list two times
Spreading his joy amongst our relatives
On Christmas morn we will wake to loved ones...
holding your hand all morning had melted
precious picture remained in my eyes
charming prisoner I kept close for years
I dreaded when you left me whole yet tense
reaching for you every single night still
memories still complete my impulses
waking to such a dazzling sunrise
I forever dream when you will be home...
Looking to the sky, I often wonder
Wondering what you are thinking about
Do you look to the dark sky and ponder
In your hazed mind do you think of my shout
Look to the sunset and think of your life
The beautiful colors fading to black
Turing your back not considering strife
Care only for yourself, leaving no tracks
