WRITING OBSTACLE

I hope that this day is ok for everyone, even if you don’t celebrate Christmas.
Holidays are not always happy for people. Like for my mom. Ever since my grandfather passed away, she has never been the same. Any moment of joy becomes sadness because he isn’t here.
So I know a thing or two about holidays being about loss. Loss of people. Loss of experiences that we don’t have. Just loss.
People post a lot on Christmas. They are always with big smiles and with their families. I am fortunate to have an amazing family. But this time of year is also a reminder.
So for people that do not have positive associations with the holiday season, I hope you are doing ok. I wish for happy days ahead (or at least average days).
And for people that do, I hope it continues to be happy for you!
Always, Anya
The holiday began with a sunrise that painted the sky in delicate hues of gold and peach. Children’s laughter filled the air as they ran barefoot across the cool, sandy shore. The gentle waves lapped rhythmically, creating a soothing melody that accompanied the rustle of palm fronds in the breeze. Families gathered under shaded canopies, sharing meals rich with spices and vibrant with fresh ingredients. As the day stretched on, the sunlight glimmered on the water, while the scent of salt and blossoms mingled in the warm atmosphere. By dusk, lanterns flickered softly, their glow casting playful shadows, marking the perfect close to an unforgettable escape.
Picture yourself at summer camp on Planet Mars. What will you discover? Your surrounded by deep red canyons with orange hues towering under a bright blue sky. Get lost on a jet ski or speed boat with the wind whistling though your hair. Follow the vast green waters twisting and turning through the narrowing rocks. The lake unfolds leading you to any adventure, from watersports to cliff jumping to catching a thrill on a rope swing. Lake powell is the place for adraline junkies and explorers offering a out of this world experience.

“Sir it’s Christmas time again.”
“I’m aware Romingo.” Corin said staring out the stain glass gothic window viewing the training yard
“You can have the day off on Christmas.” Corin said Turning to look Romingo in the eyes
“It’s alright Master, I’d rather stay with you protecting you that is.” Romingo replied
“Are you going to celebrate Christmas?” Roming said then instantly regretted it
Corin looked at Romingo with a piercing gaze “You know I won’t do that, it’s been ten years since….”
“My apologies Sir.” Romingo said
“It’s not your fault Romingo,.” Corin said looking out the window again
“Maybe if I may ask sir, would you at least want to make an appearance?.”
“I will consider it.”

‘Round the table we sing songs The football game on TV Hoping the Cowboys don’t win Talking about the parade Our favorite floats As the plates are set And everyone is seated We all dig in Plates piled high with turkey Stuffing Pasta Mashed potatoes We stuff our mouths till we can’t fit any more Stomachs full But just enough room is left For pumpkin and chocolate pie We give our thanks And when everyone goes home There’s just one piece of pie left And I call it
Waking up to a lazy, sunny morning. I stretched with a brief moment of horror that I was tragically late for work. However, I was safely not. I was on holiday. I could hear my spritely nieces and nephews gallivanting downstairs like excited cats playing with a ball of soft yarn. I pulled on some loose, comfortable shorts and a suitable vest and made my way down the rabbit hole. My sisters were chatting away, their agile mouths reminded me of suckermouth catfishes. This was too much cacophony for my supposedly relaxing getaway. So I ran away with a tender towel with the high hopes of utilising the square pool of glistening and inviting water. I dived haphazardly as the water embraced me accepting my desires to escape. Unfortunately, the kids took this decisive action as permission for them to jump in after me. My head submerged down deeper in a reactive retreat.
Last Christmas was a wonderful holiday. I spent it with my dearest family, despite the absurdities of the year. My beautiful daughter joined us outside of the womb only a few weeks prior, and it was delightful to be able to share it with her! I am terribly exhausted tonight, however, and that is as much as I have the energy to write.
It’s a spooky night, a time to let your inner demons run free. The cool fall air, the pumpkins grin. There is magic all around, if you know where to look. Black cats stretch, and are content that this night belongs to them. So come play, my ghost and goblins, and rejoice. For winter nears...

WRITING OBSTACLE
Write a poem or short paragraph that contains a palindromic sentence.
A palindromic sentence can be read the same forwards or backwards. Only one of your lines needs to be a palindrome, so think carefully about how it will fit with the theme of your writing.
