Thanksgiving
โRound the table we sing songs
The football game on TV
Hoping the Cowboys donโt win
Talking about the parade
Our favorite floats
As the plates are set
And everyone is seated
We all dig in
Plates piled high with turkey
Stuffing
Pasta
Mashed potatoes
We stuff our mouths till we canโt fit any more
Stomachs full
But just enough room is left
For pumpkin and chocolate pie
We give our thanks
And when e...
Holiday
Waking up to a lazy, sunny morning. I stretched with a brief moment of horror that I was tragically late for work. However, I was safely not. I was on holiday. I could hear my spritely nieces and nephews gallivanting downstairs like excited cats playing with a ball of soft yarn. Last Christmas
Last Christmas was a wonderful holiday. I spent it with my dearest family, despite the absurdities of the year. My beautiful daughter joined us outside of the womb only a few weeks prior, and it was delightful to be able to share it with her!
I am terribly exhausted tonight, however, and that is as much as I have the energy to write....
Halloween

This Is America
Smoke fills the air, creating clouds of color. With every boom, light streaks across the sky. Glittering rain flutters down as new explosions burst above. The scent of gunpowder mixes with hotdogs and apple pie. Sweaty bodies reach towards the heavens, sparklers waving in their hands. They sing of battles won. The flag was still there. As one, we say: this is America.
Smoke fills the air, burnin...
Whitehouse, Jamaica
The Jamaican sun is blinding overhead. A white hot orb impossible to take in beyond the most fleeting glance. With a slim, sun browned arm, she reaches out and tilts the beach umbrella until her body is swathed in shade. It does little to alleviate the heavy heat of the tropical afternoon, but it does shield her enough that she can continue reading without the glare of sunlight off pale paper. She...
