POEM STARTER
Submitted by Norris Reynolds
Write a poem about the perfect way to start the day.
Writings
waking up at half past twelve
gentle sunlight seeping through the window blinds
birds chirping
tree branches waving hellow
no screaming from children
or being yelled at by adults
a pile of books in one corner
and a secret stash of candy in the other
an autumn-themed outfit
a long orange skirt
welcomed with music
coming from the alexa
this
is my perfect start...

I get up nโ roll over.
12 PM? Damn.
Run a hand through my long hair.
Throw blankets over the messy bed.
Rub my eyes and step over
the body on the floor.
What?
Haha, oops.
Secrets, funny.
Pick the blade up-
No face on the victim.
Stabbed 104 times.
Lick the blade, smile.
Blood sticky like honey.
And sweet like candy.
Drag โem to the closet, shut the door.
Iโll wash my hands and fix my makeup.

Perfect day if only it would come
If only i could jump out of bed with a smile on my face
Trampling down stairs donโt mind being called an elephant
Laughing as my sister is too
Not a second look at scissors as I walked out the door
And Iโd believe in a future enough to study
And when i play music I could sing along loudly
And tonight i have enough energy to get ready for bed
and have nothing tha...
This morning my alarm didnโt go off to wake me
I really hate that useless thing
The rest of the morning didnโt get better either
Then I heard my phone start to ring
And just as I thought Iโd go insane
It was you calling me just because
I didnโt want to come off as the type to complain
So I said โIโm doing wellโ, then I was...
The perfect way to start the day
First sleep in until about midday
Then lay in bed until youโre ready to rise
Trust me youโll thank me for it and say Iโm wise
Make yourself the most delicious meal
And then we can start to greet the day with a deal
Youโll agree that you will make it the best day yet
Everything will be perfect, until you get upset
No worries, for tomorrow is another day
And...
No alarm clocks
Just my natural alarm
Laying on my bed
Lazing and calm
Late breakfast
But abundant one
So many flavours
Having such fun
A day for myself
No tasks, just my stuff
Forgetting all outside
Even that life is tough.
No schedules
No checking the time
Who cares when things happen?
I surely don't give a dime.
Freedom
No deadlines to meet
Whatever is, is
Days like these are so sweet.

Sun streaming through the slanted window shades.
A rested mind, ready for the day to come.
Catching up on life before their feet touch the floor.
Drinking water, lacing up sneakers, preparing music.
Going on a walk to plan their day, then working out to strengthen themselves.
Showering off the sweat, eating a healthy meal, beginning their work of the day.
The perfect way to start a day r...
