Railyn and Carter have been living together in Carters house for around a month.
Aiden and Tracy have an apartment about 20 mins away.
Today though, is the first time Aiden has contacted Railyn since she moved out.
Railyn and Carter are sitting on the couch cuddling while watching a movie. Railyns phone rings and while trying to grab it Carter throws it onto the other side of the couch.
“We’re watching a movie.” He whines, nuzzling his head into her shoulder.
Rai rolls her eyes and laughs. “Okay fine.”
A few minutes later her phone starts ringing again.
“Can I at least check who it is?”
Carter sighs dramatically, entirely collapsing onto her. He places the back of his wrist to his forehead, draped across her lap.
“If you must.”
Rai grabs her phone.
“Well, who is it. Who is so important that you had to stop our cuddles.”
She raises her eyebrows. “One, you complain like a child. Two, it’s Aiden.”
Carter groans, rolling onto the floor because he is a child.
“You interrupted our cuddling to talk to your ex?” He gasps as dramatically as he knows how.
Railyn rolls her eyes, completely ignoring Carters whining and picks up the phone.
“Hello?”
“Hey.”
“Uhm… what do you need?”
“Is your credit card linked to my bank account?”
“What? No.”
“Are you linked to my bank account at all???”
“No?”
At this point Carter is standing right next to Railyn trying to hear what Aiden is saying.
“Ok.”
Beep beep beep
“Hello?”
Railyn looks at her phone. He hung up.
“What did he want?” Carter asks. He no longer was complaining like a child and seemed very concerned that she had been taking to Aiden.
Rai rolls her eyes at his defensive behavior and pushes him onto the couch curling up on top of him.
“I don’t even know. He just asked if I was linked to his bank account.”
Carter runs his fingers through her hair. “Hm. Weird.”
They lay there cuddling while the movie plays in the background.

A few weeks later Tracy shows up at Railyn and a Carters house.
“Hello?”
Knock knock knock
“HELLO??”
She knocks again.
“Maybe they aren’t home-“ Aiden rolls his eyes at her growing impatience.
“His cars in the driveway and the lamp by the couch is on. If the lamp is on, Hes home.” Tracy sneers, trying to turn the door handle.
Locked.
Meanwhile Railyn and Carter lay asleep in their bed. They went to a friends house last night and we’re out till 3.
Tracy groans. “Son of a biscuit.”
“Biscuit?” Aiden laughs. Tracy shoots him down with a glare and he immediately stops laughing.
Tracy drags Aiden around to the back of the house where she opens a window.
“Tracy. Please tell me your not about to break into your Ex’s house through his back window.”
“You told me not to lie.” She smirks and she pulls her self up through the window.
“Do you hear that?” Railyn sits up in bed.
“Mmmhgmmmmmmmmm.” Is all the reply she gets from Carter who pulls her back down into his arms.
“Carter. Seriously. Do you hear that?”
“MmmmMmmm five more minutes.” He grumbles, sleep coating his voice.
Railyn slowly lowers herself out of bed and she walks over to the door, listening.
footstep sounds
“Was anyone coming over today?”
“No? Why would any sane person come over this early?” Carter grumbles as he wraps up in the blanket.
Railyn rolls her eyes.
It’s 11:30.
What do you do when you think someone in your house? Call the cops. So she did.
Whispering into the phone she hears drawers opening downstairs.
“They’re going through the drawers.” Railyn informs the man on the phone.
“In the middle of the day? Thats one stupid thief. We’ll send someone over.”
“Where is it!” Tracy hisses, going through the drawers in the TV stand.
“What are you looking for?!” Aiden didn’t climb in and is standing outside still.
“Don’t worry about it.”
Aiden was indeed worried about it.
All of the sudden 2 cops burst through the front door.
“HANDS IN THE AIR.” The shorter male cop yells.
“Please.” The taller male cops whispers.
Tracy rolls her eyes, dropping the papers she had been looking through.
Railyn comes running down the stairs.
“Tracy?” She stands there at the bottom of the stairs, tilting her head examining Tracy.
“You know this woman?” The shorter cop says clearly annoyed. He lowers his gun a bit.
“Yeah. Shes my boyfriends Ex.”
The cops both raise there guns again and Tracy rolls her eyes.
“If you would have let me back in the house, we wouldn’t be having this problem.”
“Why are you in my house?” Carter comes dragging down the stairs, still wrapped in a blanket. When he notices the cops though he drops it and stands a little straighter.
“I was… uh- looking for something.”
“What?” Carter glares.
“The code to your savings account.”
Carter snorts. “Your not gonna find it in a drawer.” He taps his temple. “It’s in my head.”
Railyn leans closer to him. “Is it your birthday?” She whispers, a wide grin on her face.
He freezes.
“I need to change my password…”

Tracy was sent off with a warning and she and Aiden faced their OWN CONSEQUENCES (le gasp!!!) Of Tracy’s gambling problem. Aiden had to get a job and Tracy is looking for a job still.
As for Carter and Railyn they are being a cute wattpad core couple.
You will not be getting more because I’m lazy and writersblock has returned

Months pass. Carter and Railyn have a system. Tracy has “book club” every Friday night and Aiden goes to his friends house for “game night” every Friday. Theyre DEFINITELY together every Friday night.
But so are the other two.

Railyn sits at the counter, texting Carter. Aiden is grabbing his stuff for game night. He comes up to Railyn, his hands fighting with his lanyard.
“Uhm. Railyn?”
This kid is a nervous wreck.
“Yeah?” Rai sets her phone on the counter face down.
“I-“ he shakes his head. “Nevermind.”
Aiden opens the door to leave. “I’ll be home around 2.”
“Thats later then usual.” Railyn presses.
“We’re going to a casino an hour away.” He states shortly before shutting the door behind him.
Uhm… okay then
When Carter shows up he has a huge grin on his face. He grabs her waist, pulling her into a kiss.
“Missed you.” He laughs.
Railyn rolls her eyes. “We literally talk everyday.” She kisses him lightly.
He pulls away and hands her a blindfold.
She raises an eyebrow.
“Go grab a sweatshirt.” He rolls his eyes.
Rai grabs a dark green sweatshirt (that may or may not be Carters 🤭🤭)
He smirks. “Love the sweater. Where’d you get it?”
“Your bedroom.” She laughs, sliding the hoodie on over her T-shirt. He spins her around, tying the blindfold over her eyes.
“Carter?” She raises suspicion in her voice.
He flicks her in the head. “Don’t be a horny bastard for like 3 minutes Kay?”
Railyns jaw drops. “I would never.” She gasps dramatically.
Carter wraps his hands around her hips after he tied the blindfold, turning her to face him again. “Yes you would.” He kisses her on the neck and it sends a shiver throughout her entire body.
“Your right. I would.”
Carter leads her to the car. Purposely running her in to multiple objects. The drive isn’t too long but Rai is impatient and curious. She can hear the rain tapping the metallic roof of the car.
When she hears Carter get out of the car the rain is pouring.
He opens her door for her.
“M’lady”
“Carter it’s pouring rain.”
“And?” He yanks her out of the car, pulling her into the heavy downfall.
Railyn gasps as the cold water falls on her. “What the crap!”
He slips off her blindfold and theyre on the top of a parking garage. The parking lot their in is empty and the rain beats down on the two of them. He goes into the car and starts playing the song Slow dance in a parking lot by Jordan Davis __ __ Carter pulls her into a slow dance position. His smile glowing. His dark brown hair droops, sticking to his forehead.
Her hair clings to the wet sweatshirt from the rain.
The song plays and they twirl each other around in puddles for the full 3 minutes and 13 seconds. After that song plays, _Thinking out loud by Ed Sheeran plays. _ __ __ Carter twirls them in circles before pulling her into a hug.
“I love you.” He whispers into her shoulder.
Hot tears leak from her eyes. “I love you too.”
He pulls away, looking at her tears. “I’m going to break up with Tracy.” He says because he’s and idiot.
“What!?” Railyn pushes away because shes also an idiot.
Carter grabs her hands pulling her back to him. “Rai I want to love you. I want to love you without having to sneak around. Without going off of Aiden and Tracys schedule.”
“I want to love as much as I can.” He cups her face in his hands.
“I want to love you too.” She smiles, tears and rain running down her face.
Their lips meet as the final notes of the song play.

Aiden comes home at 2:26 AM.
26 minutes late but whos keeping track.
(Railyn. Railyn is keeping track.)
He comes through the door, dropping his crap on the floor by the door.
“Hi.”
His eyes dart to Railyn whos sitting in the couch looking like a nervous mess.
“Why are you still up?” Aiden shakes his head.
“I- I needed to talk to you.”
His eyes widen for a moment but he blinks and then acts calm again.
“What’s up?”
Railyns gonna need to for stand for this one.
“I… think we should break up.”
It startles him but he just sighs.
“I agree.”
He opens his mouth like he is going to add more but stops.
“Because you’ve been cheating on me with Tracy.”
Now that one really shocked him.
“Wait okay it- it’s not what it’s seems like!” Aiden panics searching for an excuse.
Railyn just places a silencing finger to his lips. “I know I’ll regret this if I don’t say it now but I- may or may not be seeing her boyfriend Carter.”
Aiden freezes before bursting into laughter.
Rai just stands there staring at him. Is he seriously laughing?? They were both cheating on each other. This is serious.
“Wait hold on.” He grabs his phone, calling Carter.
“WHAT ARE YOU DOING????” She tries to snatch his phone but he dodges.
‘Hello?’
“Hey Carter.”
‘Can I help you?’
“This is gonna sound really funny. Do you wanna switch girlfriends?”
Theres a flurry of movement in the other side in the phone and they just hear Carter opening a door and yelling to Tracy, ‘YOUR MAN IS SINGLE AND SO ARE YOU HUN. YOU BEST BE PACKING YOU BAGS.’
Rai snorts and Aiden just looks at the phone very concerned.
‘Yea that would be great. Come pick Tracy up in the morning and drop Railyn off with me’
“Alright sounds good. Cya.”
Aiden hangs up the phone and laughs. He laughs for a long time. Rolling on the floor.
I glare at him. “It’s funny how to two of you are swapping girlfriends like one might swap a jacket.”
Aiden just shrugs. “If you wait to break up for too long it just isn’t important after a while.”
He stands up. “You for real need to pack up ur stuff though. Your moving in the morning.”
Rai scoffs, walking down the hall.
“Please.”
“I’ve had my bags packed for a month.” She smirks.

That one was special. I’m fr not sure how to break up with someone because I’ve never even held someone’s hand romantically so that’s what you get from me. Yes I’m aware that thats not how breakups work. Thank you JATG for pointing that out 🙄😂

If you want a part three I’m not sure where I would go with this. Maybe like a time skip for a few months or a year ish later. I’m only gonna write more with these characters upon request though.

Railyn sits there as they talk. Still holding his hand. He was her boyfriend but the way that he talking to Tracy brought doubt raining all over her parade.
They went to highschool together so it wasn’t odd for them to chat but normally you would talk to an old friend like you haven’t seen them in a while. The way Aiden talked to Tracy seemed like they have been talking to each other a lot recently.
Railyn says nothing. She stands there holding his hand. He doesn’t add her to the conversation and she excuses herself to get a drink. They were standing outside a coffee shop after all.
Aiden raised no opposition to her depart. She doubted he even noticed. Rai bought herself a latte and sat in one of the booths, staring out the window at Tracy.
She prettier than me.
“Excuse me.” A man stands at her table looking to be around 20. (Same age as her) “Do you mind if I sit here?”
Railyn glances to Aiden. “Go ahead!”
He sits down and she swore he was practically glowing in the dim lighting of the café.
He’s fiiiiine
“Hi.” He smiles brightly. “I’m Carter. What’s your name?”
“Railyn.” She smiles, her attitude brightening along with Carters smile.
They got talking about books because Carter noticed that Railyn had a book pin on her bag. After chatting a while Railyn mustered the courage to ask for his number.
I can’t believe I’m doing this. I have a boyfriend!
She glances to Aiden and Tracy and they’ve sat down and have their hands suspiciously close together.
“Can I get your number?”
Carter looks over at Tracy and Aiden as well, scrunching his nose.
“Do you know Tracy?” Rai ask because Shes stupid.
“Shes my girlfriend.” He winces because he’s even stupider.
“Oh sorry I didn’t mean to come off too strong.” She panics waving her hands in dismissal.
He tilts his head, looking at her. “Arent you Aiden’s girlfriend though?” Carter smirks.
“Uhm. Yeah.” She replys, embarrassed that she asked for for a taken mans number while she herself is also taken.
He smirks again. Looking even more devious this time. He slides a paper across the table with a phone number scribbled on it.
“Text me.” He rests his head on his wrists.
Railyn laughs. “I will.”

A few months later Railyn sits there on the couch smiling at her phone while texting Carter. Aiden and Tracy have both disappeared and theyre most likely together.
Neither Carter nor Railyn confront either of them about this. Simply observing and taking note.
Rai gets a new text from Carter.
“Can I come over?”
“Sure. Aiden said he wouldn’t be home till like 11.”
“Omw.”
15 mins later Carter is sitting on Railyns couch. An akward distance between the two.
They decide to watch a movie but halfway through it Carter pauses it and Railyn finds that over the first half of the movie they had moved closer so that their legs were touching.
“Why’d you pause it?” Railyn looks to Carter who is staring at her.
He pushes her over on the couch, pinning her to the cusions. He presses his lips against hers. Railyn panics and she doesn’t kiss him back at first. He continues kissing her regardless and when her few brain cells connect she kisses him back.
Rai pulls away, pushing him off of her.
“Why- why did you kiss me?!”
“Why did you like it?” He smirks.
“We’re both dating someone else!”
“We can change that.” He counters, sitting in the floor by the couch where she pushed him off.
“But we just cheated…”
Concern grows on Carters face. “And where do you think Tracy and Aiden are?” He pulls up a photo of Aiden sitting on a couch at some party, Tracy snuggled up on his lap. Her lipstick is smeared across his collar and lips.
Railyn freezes. “When was that?”
“10 minutes ago.” He sighs.
She bites her lip. “Should we confront them?”
He shrugs. “Nah. They’ve got their secrets and we’ve got ours.”
Railyn sits on Carters lap, straddling him. She cups his face in her hands. “You’re a way better kisser than my boyfriend anyway.”
She presses her lips against his again feeling actual emotion rather than the empty feeling she experienced with Aiden.
Carter was a MUCH better kisser than her boyfriend.

My stomach drops and pulls in as fear joins the massacre that is my mind. Fear slithers and wraps around my chest as doubt scratches at my throat. Fear slices my rib cage and doubt seeps into the wounds. Doubt’s cold hands cradle my heart. Cant Breathe Cant-

“MAUI?!?!?!?” He lifts his head slowly, dark brown curls gently falling over his shoulder. “What..?” I jump onto the table and grab his ear, “MAUI DEMI-GOD OF THE WIND AND SEA!” “What the crap!” He yanks away quickly and holds a chair between me and himself. “I AM MOANAAAAAAA!!!” Fear fills his eyes as my usual sweatshirt and jeans shifts into a grass skirt and beaded tube top and my chain changes for a pendant. “No- James you are not Moana your a 15 year old boy.” I stare at him with blank dead eyes. “I AM MOANA OF DENVER COLORADO, YOU WILL GET INTO MY HONDA MINI-VAN DRIVE DOWN STATE STREET AND BUY ME TACO-BELL.” He blinks back at me. “No.”
We’ve always been taught: “Things have to get worse for them to get better.” Or “The sun is warmer after the rain” Or something similar to that. What they don’t mention is that the good part is often cut short and is never fulfilling enough to compensate for the darkness.
The darkness lasts to long. When do I give up? Does it ever stop? I can’t fight for the rest of my life. This isn’t living. You can survive all you want but your not living.

“Just keep going. It will all work out in the end.” I empathetic smile warms her face. I look up at her, still on my knees. “Better?” I laugh. It’s a dark sarcastic sound. Her smile weakens, concern starting to fill her eyes. “I’ve been going for years now.” I stand, towering over her. “How much longer? Hm? Am I on the verge of success or will I keep going for the rest of life.” She stumbles back as I step closer to her. “How do you know it gets better?” I sneer and turn to leave. “Calm down! Don’t be so dramatic. Your not the only one with challenges.” … I freeze in my tracks. “Dramatic?” My voice is cold and sharp. “It’s honestly not that big of a deal-“ I laugh, cutting her off. The laugh stings my eyes and squeezes my throat, the world turning into a swirl of darkness. She hesitantly walks closer, placing a gentle hand on my back. I smack her hand away, whipping around to face her. “WHY. WHY IS IT NOT THAT BIG OF A DEAL? BECAUSE ITS NOT A BIG DEAL TOO YOU? I WOULD ASSUME ITS NOT A BIG DEAL TO YOU SEEING THAT YOU NEVER PAY ATTENTION TO ME!” A swirl of emotions coat her face at the sudden outburst. “O- of course I care.” Her face melts to pity and concern. “Liar.” I take a slow step back. “You only care about her and whatever she needs.” I walk away, slamming the door behind me.
