STORY STARTER
Your character has superpowers. Each new day the power is replaced by a completely random one. Some are great, like night vision or flying, others not so great, like being able to breath underwater but only when your character is dry.
Write a story consisting of any number of paragraphs. Each paragraph is a new day where your character has a new power.

I can fly! Not in the Peter Pan kind of way, in the Superman kind of way. Pixie Dust sold separately. I should totally audition for the magic carpet in an Aladdin play. Or maybe sell vacation tickets. Free vacation to Italy, anyone?
Things don’t stay. I’m not sure whats happening. My clock says it’s midnight, but my eyes do not. Why is everything so bright?
I’m invisible. Which is good. I like not being seen, don’t I? Sure. Of course. But how do I order my morning coffee…?
I’m sticky. Not like a controlled sticky. Like a I-stick-to-anything-I-touch-to-the-point-I-can-barely-get-out-of-bed kind of sticky. I guess this means another day off from work (and without my daily coffee).
I wake up sweating. Which is wonderful. Or it would be, except it’s the middle of summer. Should I sell myself on EBay as a furnace? Maybe I can cook food.
I jumped off a building today. Not in a suicidal way. I was testing to which extent falling like a feather could go to. With the risk of death, sure, but I’m starting to have confidence in these powers. It’s not too bad.
It is terrible. I am absolutely disgusted by this. I should sue.
Flowers are following me, send help.
I cannot stop blinking.
Please stop.
One word, help. Wait, that was three words.
I’ve never watched Hamilton, why am I quoting this guy in my living room?
Is that a seahorse?
Can I quit?
Yeah.
I think I want to retire.
At life.
Did my pie just become a jackalope?
I just peed my pants.
Day 1: It’s 11:10 am and I overslept, my shift starts at 11:30 am. It’ll take me 30 minutes to get to work, I am so screwed. My boss told me if I was late one more time, I would get fired. I get out of bed and the next thing I know I am in my kitchen. Today’s power is super speed, sweet. This power will help me a lot today. I get to work with 10 minutes to spare, my job is saved. Work goes by so fast, thanks to my power and I even got to leave early today. Best power ever!
Day 2: I got off work at midnight and it was about 12:30 am when I saw my apartment building. I notice a kitten sitting on the steps. The kitten looks up at me and meows, but what I hear is a little voice with a British accent whisper, “Excuse me, sir, do you have some tuna?” Woah, I can understand the animal language. This power rocks! I got the kitten some tuna. I fall asleep and when I wake up I decide to spend the day walking around speaking with as many animals as I can. You won’t believe the things I have learned. I know why both dogs and cats are here on Earth, but I promised them I wouldn’t tell a soul.
Day 3: I wake up to discover that today’s power is flying which is great because I have always wanted to see the city from high up. I get dressed, open my window, and jump out. I start to fall and wonder how I activate this power. The ground is approaching so quickly and I know if I don’t do something, I’ll splat. Sneeze Whoosh, the next thing I know I am in the air. So, that’s how it’s activated. I spend the day flying around the world and checking out all the different countries.
Day 4: At 7:00 am my alarm goes off and I can’t help but wonder what power I have today. A few minutes later, I find out that I can become invisible but it only works when I am conversing in Spanish with someone else speaking Spanish. Oh great, I only know one sentence in Spanish! “¿Dónde está el baño?” is the only Spanish I know. So, if I want to turn invisible I have to say that sentence out loud while in the middle of a conversation with someone who is also speaking Spanish. This is going to be awkward. I was right, today was so embarrassing.
Day 5: I hope that today’s power won’t be like yesterday’s. My alarm goes off at 6:30 am and I roll over feeling sad because I wanted to go back to sleep. I go to turn my alarm clock to turn off but it ends up broken on my nightstand. Superhuman strength, wicked! Of course, my power only activates when I am sad. Just great! Today was not my day, I didn’t get to use this power as much as I would have liked.
Day 6: The knock on my front door startles me awake. I look out my peephole and groan when I see who it is. Abby or Elaine, I don’t remember what her name is. I opened the door and growled, “I have told you, you can’t keep coming over here! What do you want!?” She mumbled something and I commanded her to speak up which she does. When I hear her tell me that she loves me, can’t live without me and if she can’t have me nobody can; I lose it. I scoff before snarling, “I will never love you, now get out of my sight!.” She reaches out to hug me and I put my hands out to stop her, next thing I know she’s on fire. A few seconds later, I see her on the ground dead.
Day 310: In case you are wondering, no I am not in jail for murdering what’s her face. I’m in a worse place than jail, I am in a superhuman camp where I am being prodded and studied like an animal. Three days after she died, I was walking home at 10PM after work when I got knocked out and I woke up here. I had night vision as my power that day, but it was extremely useless because it only worked during the day. A week after she died, I was told that I am the only superhuman who gets new powers every day. They want to know why only my powers change everyday and what makes me so special.
(Author note: Working title, could be better. Feel like this story could be better too, let me know).
A triumphant smirk was plastered to Sora’s face as he danced his way through the streets of London, the cold breezes of the night kissing his cheeks. His feet felt lighter than usual. Two steps would take him up into the air and two more would drop him back down. Gravity bent at his fingertips and the thrill of watching it unfold sent adrenaline swimming through his veins. Just moments ago, he’d sent a man flying after he tried to steal a woman’s purse; satisfying to say the least. The streetlights were bright like fireflies and some flickered under the weight of age. As he climbed the stairs of his apartment, the tiny flame of excitement was yet to be extinguished so he chose to venture up to the rooftop instead. His feet dangled off the edge of the building, cars and people passing beneath him; the world below him a kaleidoscope of red, green and yellow. He stood up, heaving in a breath of cold air, the same smile stuck to his face as if it had been glued. Then his legs gave way. The space around him caught him as if it were a net, the impact making his body bounce - but he never fell. Exhilaration glistened in his eyes as he flew about, a couple metres at a time, enjoying how weightless he felt. He passed building after building, dark and empty of any life. It took precisely three minutes for him to arrive before the Big Ben. The clock stood before him, grand in all its glory. Although old, little of the structure had been damaged. So entranced by its appearance, Sora failed to notice two hands moving towards the twelve. It wasn’t until the ringing started that Sora realised his mistake. A new day - a new power. Almost instantly, he dropped. The wind was harsh against his skin and slapped at his face. His heart was lodged in his throat, panicked. As he grasped around for anything to hold despite knowing there would be nothing, tears began to fill his eyes. Then a vision crossed his path. Beige in colour, the event unfolded before him and his guts twisted upon seeing his own body splatter against the ground. He could hear screams, sirens. So that was today’s power: the ability to see into the future.
Today was fish tacos for lunch. Now I hope you know I hate fish tacos, sorry to those who do. But today is the one day I’ll ever chose them since I have very unexpectedly turn into a mermaid every time water touches my skin. I have become rather accustom to my many random powers. Like just yesterday I had the chance to turn into any animal, that was great. But now it’s this. It may be any little girls dream to be a mermaid but this low lander prefers not to have that chance. Especially when later that day she was going on a field trip to the pool. Now if you don’t mind I’m going to go eat my fish tacos and avoid the squirting water fountains.
New day new power. Today I don’t see anything particularly bad. I can’t fly, no crazy hair, nothing really bad. But then I ran into the wall on my way to the bathroom, or I should say ran through the wall. Ya... sorry brother. But that’s pretty nifty to say the least! It was a lot of fun zooming threw the walls and walking into my locker! Of course it wasn’t very useful but I enjoyed it none the less!
Ok what do we have set for today strange magical body? No night vision, how do I know? Because I ran into a wall in the dark. No mermaid tail, I can take a shower without scales. And no speed. I’m as slow as a sloth in p.e I would know if I had super speed. But then it was math, second period terrible. I have barely gained a c and working for a b and today was the math test. Not going to lie I didn’t study. That one person who is looking disappointed your not fooling anyone. But I felt so energized and I knew all the answers by heart. I didn’t cheat if that’s what your thinking so it must be... super brain!!!!Duh Duh Duh! It was amazing! I knew all the answers and I could rub it in that no-good rotten pig nosed math teachers face! I got a A+! TAKE THAT DISAPPOINTED ON-LOOKER!
Remember to find the bright side to bad situations, be happy in the darkened of times! And remember super brain power is not cheating! Have a humorous day my dreamers 🧩!
I stare at my reflection in the mirror. I’m invisible. This is great. Absolutely fantastic. Now what do I do? My parents can’t see me like this, no one can. I guess I’ll have to take my clothes off and disappear for the day. I hate Power Hopping.
My room is literally a jungle. I put a hand on my wall and a spray of vines grow in its place. This power would be cool if I was an explorer. But a high schooler? Not so much. You can’t where gloves around all day. You also can’t have the power to turn everything you touch into a jungle scene, but today I do. This is way worse than invisibility. Power Hopping can be the most terrible thing.
Mum walks into my bedroom and she’s...bright yellow! She’s smiling and jabbering on about how great I am and how much fun we’ll have together today, because apparently we’re going shopping ‘like we did when I was little’. I stopped doing that after my powers manifested. Shoppers probably wouldn’t like to see a little girl who couldn’t keep her feet on the ground, or could shoot lasers out of her eyes so had to wear sunglasses. The day is spent at the shopping centre, seeing soft pink couples, bright yellow groups of friends, grey mothers with screaming red children. It is awful. We don’t buy anything because I’m too scared of the blue shop assistants.
I wake up on the ceiling. Everything else in my room is floating, and I yelp. Then suddenly everything changes and I hit my bed with a thump. Dad runs in, shouting “What’s wrong, what’s wrong?” and leaves with a puzzled look on his face, because nothing seems to be. But as soon as he leaves I drift a few feet off the ground. How am I supposed to go to school like this? And why am I even asking this question. No school! Whoop!
Today I have a great power. I literally understand anything. In Spanish I had a complete conversation with the teacher and in Drama I ‘accurately’ translated The Tempest into our style of talk. Apparently it’s called innate capability, and it. Is. Awesome.
Ok, today is not the best. I’m glowing with a strange light. It’s scaring me. The neighbours have probably seen me and called the government. I’m going to be taken away. Away from my friends, family, life as I know it. I need to do something about it. I need to run. Run fast.
What do you think S.P.T. could possibly stand for?
It stands for Super Powered Threat.
One day I was rapping in class , spitting ‘fire’ . But then I literally spat out fire onto my wooden desk . Smoke rose from in front of me. I began to panic. The teacher ran over with the fire extinguisher, and extinguished the fire.
By after that, everyone backed away from me. I was in my own little corner. This was all recorded on the CCTV cameras in my high school.
One minute later, People wearing hazmat suits came into the classroom with handcuffs. Took me away.
To a Government testing area, where I was placed into Solitary confinement because I was a risk to society. Society was too scared of me. Me? I’m just a kid . I don’t comprehend how this could happen.
The next day I got lucky ? I teleported our back into society. But everything had already changed . People everywhere gave me strange looks, scared looks, and avoided me. No school to go to, No home to go home to. Where was I supposed to go now?
