Whispers of Autumn
Leaves twirl down, in dusk’s embrace,
Soft sighs of wind, a gentle trace.
Sunset’s glow, a fading lace,
Time drifts slow, in nature’s grace.
Golden hues and chilly air,
Fires crackle, warmth to share.
Stories woven, memories rare,
In twilight’s hush, we find our spare.
Beneath the boughs, shadows play,
Echoes linger, dance and sway.
Life unfolds in a quiet way,
Embracing change, come what may.
A tapestry of fading light,
Hope ignites the coming night.
Stars awaken, bold and bright,
While hearts whisper, hold on tight.
An unfaithful mirror, clearer
Than a truthful tounge, flung
Across pen, paper
And stitched by stapler
To create notes, for folk
Who feel the need to see to know
To witness to grow
As if the puddle was the worth
To the knowledge unearthed in hurt
And love
The puddle doesn’t rise above
It just tells you what you hear
So listen to the rain
Don’t ask the puddle for your sir.
I am the court jester, Bleeding laughter—calcified eschar Of despair. I grew weary dancing over the king’s hot coals And listening to his woes:
Oh, the Queen Used her teeth To skin his manhood while it was still pulsating, Fresh from the slaughter—as we were saving The best for last.
He’s more sugar than he is cream; Corrosion blacker than his morning coffee. She runs herself a bath, Lights candles to tune out the static.
I fill the throne’s void With a shrill lyric to my voice And the king takes me as his bride. No one’s teeth are sharper than mine.
(Only sorta the prompt)
One last time, I sit by the ledge I dip my feet in Chills calming my skin
They motion frantically Towards the door So I breathe in The chlorine filled air One last time
One last time My eyes wander As I imagine you Gliding through the blue Like a little bullfrog
I pull my foot out Of the darkening pool The water drips speedily at first But then slowly slithers down my skin One last time
One last time, I slip on my sandals The padding dampening From what I still have Of that long, long swim
My shoes squeaking On the carpet As I turn to take One Last Glance
At the miles and miles Of memories we made Slowly sinking in the deep One last time
Time goes by The heat sinks in Turning my skin pink Making me long For the water’s Graceful embrace And for you
A part of me knows I didn’t have to leave But a part of me also knows That swimming with you Was like swimming with sharks
Maybe one day I’ll dip my feet in again I’ll do the butterfly stroke And splash cool water on my face All without you
Because one day I’ll be able to escape The slimy pool water And swim To a deep ocean Bringing only a trace of chlorine
One day, I’ll make oceans of memories Full of truth Pain Hope Love Everything All without you
And I won’t look back I won’t hear the voice whisper _Come on, let’s go back _ And swim with him He needs you Come on Just one more time? __ __ I’ll be brave I’ll be strong I’ll be what I have Always wanted to be I’ll be loved

This was inspired by a book I read called Every Last Word. The girl writes amazing poetry, and it’s a beautiful and relatable story. I see a lot of myself in her and her story🫶🏼 This wasn’t the prompt haha, but it was a poem🤷♀️ In the book, it talks about how important it is to say where you write your poems, because that place becomes part of the poem. I wrote this in my head while swimming at a hotel pool, but I actually wrote this at my friend’s house in bed at like 1 AM :) it’s something ig right?!
I’m feeling a little sick of people and socializing and all of the above. A lot more anxiety is rising.
“I’m sorry I wrote 10 words, that explained my brain.” You seem to hate my guts, but, to me, it’s all the same.
I’m used to the hate that people tend to give. You seem to dislike the fact that I can dismiss and outlive.
You wouldn’t even care if I was bruised and beaten. If my species had gone extinct. No way such shallowness could deepen.
This orange storm is the largest when a certain soul comes into it’s view. You seem to make everything worsen.
The console’s now forever turned a shade between red and yellow. I always held my breath and waited for your hello.

Don’t mind that. Anyways, which movie do you think was referenced?
When I look at you, I feel blue, just the elephant in the room. So different from the others, so much different than my brothers, just the elephant in the room. Nobody really likes me, just the weird curly haired gay boy, they use me for labor. I give them my trust, they make me rust, I’m just a kid, don’t treat me so bad. Worse than my dad, you made me feel sad. I want to kill you, but you left, let me rest. So different from the others, just the elephant in the room. (Guys I’m sorry I suck at poetry)
