Last night I laid in bed, my mind warping with words indistinguishable from pictures and a strange fear weighed me down heavy in my throat
Last night I dreamt you were walking in front of me my hand on your shoulder… And as I pulled away your skin came with my hand And as it peeled Juice sprayed in my eyes
Last night I saw past your skin And it smelled of oranges.
In the night The ongoing fight Hope lies beyond
You look at the sky Hear the wolves cry Stars shine bright
To the moon and free Climbing the tree To see the stars
You know the cost They get lost But for the stars You would do it all
Look up at the sky Hear the wolves cry No one can see that hope The feeling it brings Now look at the sky The sky
The sun comes up The light, the sun With night, yes there is Darkness But look up at the sky And see the stars The secret hope
Like a blanket pierced, with the moon at it centre. The gravity was coerced, with the moon as its mentor.
Strewn across the sky, bright dots of light. Comets are a little shy, as the planets hide out of sight.
As you guide me in this dark, such beauty and grace. Igniting this spark, from high in space.
Bringing me home, to our port in any weather. In the cosmos you roam, our love as light as a feather.
...
I love you Baby
In my usual spot and I stare. Out I nto the back yard. Just there. The shadows stretch longer My terrors grow stronger
The sun sinks low to kiss the earth. As a new night is given birth. It's not the dark I fear, per se, Rather, things come out, not here in the day.
The shadows grow longer, now across the lawn Growing arms, legs and teeth, the devil’s spawn. As night wears on, they creep up to the house. I run inside like a little mouse.
I peak out the window, filled with dread But the yard looks different, I can even see the shed. I look up in the dark, the sky now torn with little scars. I suddenly realize… With the night comes darkness, but also the stars.
As the sun goes down to rest, The moon rises up and hides the light. With the night Comes darkness, but also Stars.
All that is shrouded in the darkness of night Can still come to light, For the stars shall forever Bring light to the night.
The stars peacefully sit up there, Illuminating the dark sky, Making me wonder why, Why would such a gorgeous sight Spend its life Shrouded in the night?
The answers were hidden in the stars above, The ones that shine with hope and love, They held deep within them What I had been searching for, Nightfall, After nightfall, After nightfall.
With the night comes darkness, But also stars, They bring light to other planets too, Not just ours.
So remember these words, These words that I say, When the night seems to dark, I promise that the stars above, They will guide your way.
What is a star really, But fire?
And what is fire really, But light?
How inspiring it is to be able to say That we must search for light on our darkest days
“When it rains look for rainbows When it’s dark look for stars”
Injecting hope into our deepest suffering With such an aesthetic phrase Plastered on our timelines in a pleasing font
We must keep faith that the darkness will end But does God hear our prayers For the babies buried in rubble When we put their brothers and sisters in cages?
In our dress clothes on Sunday Jesus tells us exactly what to do But the place where we pray then locks its doors And the undesirables will never be allowed to enter
We tithe with dirty money Trickled down from Herod’s incarnations Half-heartedly muttering thoughts and prayers, amen For the children in a city that we are relieved is not our own But could be
We cling to hope of better days ahead And search for the light in the darkness But we forget that light is just fire And fire also burns in hell
When that pinprick of light bursts open And the savior is at our doorstep The darkness around us will be illuminated And we will see what we have done in our despair
Hell must be a very honest place
With the night comes darkness, but also stars With every cry comes sadness, but also relief With every fall comes failure, but also a lesson In every bad thing, is a good thing hidden Us humans focus on those bad things, since they are bigger than the good ones. As the darkness of the night is bigger than the stars. The darkness overshadows them; it makes them invisible. The stars are only visible if you look closely enough, not if you don't look for them, not if you give up after only seeing the darkness. So turn to the stars, turn to the light in the dark, to the good things in the bad ones. Turn to the warmth of the sun during a cold winter's day Turn to the colours of the sunset during a bad morning Turn to lemonade, when life gives you lemons Turn to the light, even when all you can see is the dark Turn to the stars, when the night only offers you darkness It's hard to look for the good things, to seek them when life denies you your vision. It's hard when the stars are too small to have a proper form. When the good things are too small to overcome the bad ones. But they are there, they are present, they are there for you to find them, waiting for you.. Look for the only flower standing on a mountain of snow Look for a small puddle of water in a desert Look for the start in the darkness of the night Look for the light
