STORY STARTER
Consider the main locations throughout your story - make some notes here about where they are, how far away from each other, how the characters get around etc.
Keeping a clear map in your head will help you avoid inconsistencies and plot holes as your characters move around.

Damoran Ettlemont Anglers End Freighters Paradise Deep Portal
Damoran is the entire northern eager of Star Spire. The sprawling city sits atop the wall and the full length of the 50 mile width sealing the southern lands.
Following the Western Edge for nearly 200 miles will bring you to Anglers End before hitting the curve at the Last Spire and beginning to head north again. This path is generally traversed by horse or caravan, staying along the cliffs edge to offer limited approaches from would be enemies.
Going east, or down the Hondonar River offers access to the eastern sea and Freighters Paradise. Two days by small sailing craft will bring you to the sea edge, and then another half day or more south brings you the Freighters Paradise. The long journey by land will lead more than 150 miles on the valley floor with little more than vision to offer guidance as most people will choose the river over land travel.
Traveling between Anglers End and Freighters Paradise can be accomplished on a single road, though there are plenty of options elsewhere. 72 miles between them, and steep ascents at times making it difficult to traverse. This direct road is often taken by small bands of travelers needing to move quickly, as more secure or wide routes will trapes about the mountain ranges following the easiest path.
At the midpoint of the road, at the Spire Junction, multiple paths meet at a single sign with arrows to all kinds of places. Heading due south is the one road into Ettlemont from the north. 17 miles south and you come to the massive gates of the chasm city, with towering clay and stone walls surrounding you. The air is thick with traps and danger.
Beyond the gates is an almost shaped city sitting beneath towering walls. Just five miles north to south and 2 east to west, the city is small. However growth occurs vertically with homes and buildings being cut into the walls by tunnel or catwalks.
The road leading out south is narrow and divides, offering a path to either coast. No named places sits at either but the route was created as an escape for citizens of the city were ever over run
Cut into the south eastern was is the Trail of the Portal which takes the last mile trek up through the mountains and into the Last Spire. Nested in the rudimentary crenellations at the top is the Deep Portal: a direct connection to the abyss. From the spire room where the portal resides, one can see the entire south spire on the clearest days, and with the right tools can even see Demoran.

Their childhood best friend will ride the same bus and live close by either in their neighborhood or a few neighborhoods over.
The first place that my charters are at is California LA they both go to school at Cal State. They also both have there own apartments, Natalie has a car that she uses to get around on earth. Ethan takes the bus to get to the school and he also works on campus so he can take the bus to get school, he has no idea how to drive. To get to the other world Natalie uses a device on accident that gets left behind so she becomes trapped in the other world. When Natalie is in the other world she has to walk until she meets and learns to trust the dragon Jake then she can ride him to travel. Ethan as a ring that allows him to tap into all the elements with out hurting himself and opening a portal anywhere to get into the other world and to get back to earth. When Ethan is in the other world he can travel by either walking or if he has to go far he will ride on the back of his best friend Maddy who can fly.
The realm of mirrors is a place of infinite possibilities, with threads of fate and destinymingle and connect, creating a rich tapestry of magic and wonder. But the journey through the mirror world is not one that can be taken lightly, with each location representing its own set of challenges and dangers.
For Aurora, the Mirror Maiden, her journey takes her across the realm of mirrors. She finds herself delving deep into forgotten ruins, where the whispers of bad technology linger in the air like. Then, a step into enchanted forests, where the trees stand like sentinels, their leaves rustling with the whispers of ancient magic. She moves, confronting the shadows of the mirror world head-on, determined to bring light to the darkest corners.
As for the Mirror King, his seat of power lies in the heart of the mirror world, his dark castle looming over the landscape like a twisted beacon. It is a place where illusions and bad technology reign supreme, a testament to the Mirror King's power and his mastery of deceit. But even here, the shadows are not absolute, and the glimmer of potential still lingers within the walls, hinting at a deeper, more complex story that has yet to be revealed.
Through these locations, the characters in the story develop themselves within the story boats, facing obstacles and challenges that test their resolve and force them to confront their own shadows. Aurora learns to trust in the magic of the mirror world, discovering her own infinite potential, and realizing that her journey to restore balance is not about defeating an but about overcoming the darkness within herself.
Meanwhile, the Mirror King is forced to confront the consequences of his actions. As he sees Aurora's strength, he recognizes his own flaws and realizes that there is potential beyond darkness. He discovers a deeper understanding of himself, one that leads him on a path to redemption by learning from and appreciating the life.
In this way, the characters in the story evolve through the magic and lessons learned in the main locations of the realm of mirrors. Each experience brings them closer to a deeper understanding of themselves and helps them to embrace the infinite potential that lies within the world around them. With each new step they take, the connections that bind them become stronger, and the realm of mirrors is reborn anew, whole, and restored.
Part of the story will take place through Brady’s flashbacks and stories about the various hotels and schools and camping grounds where he and his family stayed when they were on the road. Most of these were small towns throughout the South and Southwest U.S. The old VW van will be noted and described on what it was like living the nomadic life. Once he comes to live with Mattie, the small Kentucky town of Westmore will be where he goes to school and where he meets his math teacher Mr. Cavendar who will play an important role in his life as will the his young daughter Mimi.
Aunt Mattie’s house is a small, very ancient cottage in a small Kentucky town. She lives in the woods that is about a quarter mile down the old highway to the village and not too far from Lexington. She keeps to herself, but she grew up in this house and in this area and people know her. She is not universally liked because of her past, but others are true friends to her and they will be important side characters when Brady comes to live with her. She has an old Honda Civic but it is in pristine condition because it only has a few thousand miles on it. Mostly she uses it to go into town and the 17 miles to Lexington where she sells her goods to gourmet stores. When Brady comes, she first buys him a used bicycle and teaches him to ride it and then he has a way to get around on his own.
The sounds of her son’s laughter shook Myrtle back to the present. She shut off her home office’s SatNav and locked away the micro files. When Myrtle opened her office door, Django ran into her arms. His unexpected enthusiasm rocked her back on her heels. “Ma, Dad bought you a present but he told me to say I picked it out and he just paid for it but that’s not true.” Django’s voice had a singsong happiness. Myrtle embraced her boy’s head in a bear hug and tossed her ex a quizzical look over her son’s head. If Androids could blush, Hatchett would be scarlet, Hatchett just looked stricken. In the living room Myrtle unwrapped the box and lifted the lid. A small globe rose from the box and expanded into a a globe of Enceladus. Kneeling by the low coffee table, Myrtle exclaimed with joy. “See I would have given you a retro trucker’s hat that read “Keep On Truckin’ but he sold me on this thing. It’s pretty cool,” Django said. “It’s, it’s our home,” Myrtle said softly. “Thank you this is so…” Encircled by a diamond ring of ice, the hologram globe glowed brilliant white. Myrtle could see the Lightbearer Mines under celadon domes on the north and south poles of this moon. Under these domes she could see the mine openings and the ground vibrating from seismic shocks. Enceladus’ frozen ocean lashed with craters and ice stripes. Near the globe’s equator sat the blue domes of the Alpha colonies. Myrtle and Django marveled at farms and houses and tiny people under the artificial skies. In her mind she was back on Mars patrolling with Hatchett, her first and best partner. She was in a memory looking up at the night sky when they turned and shared their first kiss. Django magnified the globe pointing out his school and his friends’ houses. “Well let me head out.” Hatchett rose and Myrtle’s hand shot out to his. His gray hand laid in her brown hand, the weight of their years together and all they had survived laying in hands. Confused, Hatchett slowly sat back on the sofa. Hatchett squeezed her hand and rested his other hand on her shoulder. “Stay.”
I don’t have names for the places yet, just placeholders (which I will use below). The characters get around the land of Besh by foot and one location to the next is generally a few days’ travel.
Wizardtown - the northeastern would-be capital city of the kingdom that never was. The castle now holds the wizard school. Barak starts his journey here.
Porttown - the west-coast port town where Paz and Lior meet in jail. Big and busy and noisy, with a super obnoxious gap between rich and poor. Our heroes break out of jail and so can never go back.
We hear about but never go to the fighting school Malka came from, and the walled city she grew up in. Both in the northwest of the continent.
The Forest - this purposefully has no name because Children of the Stars don’t see the point of naming places. This is the beautiful dense forest spread across the north of the continent, where Shiri and her people live, along with ogres and owlbears and other wild creatures.
Purimtown - the town the five heroes come together in, a bit south of the forest, arriving on erev Purim. The people here love their festivals! The Five start a tavern brawl and stop a murder here.
Ghosttown - a little further south on the road, a very very small town. The Five spend the night here while trying to figure out why they are being chased by ghosts.
Plaguetown - further south on the road, a larger city under quarantine for a terrible disease. Every public building converted into hospitals, too many empty houses and streets. Don’t worry, they find a cure.
I’m not sure if the Void counts as a location. But the Five don’t really get to the southern farmlands; all that’s there is emptiness. They flee north again.
Lior’s home village - a small eastern community in a river valley, all the houses on stilts with rope ladders to get up to them because of frequent flooding. Not far from wizardtown.
The Cave - where the Five find the Thing in the Pool that cursed Lior. In the rocky place to the far east of the continent. As soon as one person enters the cave, a boulder slams down behind them, an immovable door. The way forward is a dark downward tunnel, which gradually becomes lit by glowing crystal. The tunnel ends in a wide round cavern filled with a perfectly round pool of water. Look in the water, and your perfect reflection looks back up at you. And it smiles at you with too many teeth.
They return to Lior’s village, and wizardtown, and the Forest, and then head south again
Barak’s family farm - a simple two-story house, a barn, and a wide field. The simple life he left behind to chase big dreams. Not far from plaguetown.
They meet the Void again just south of plaguetown.
Werewolf Europe is divided in a few kingdoms. For this story the kingdoms of Francia and Helvetia are the most there will be some references to the kingdoms of Hispania and Lusitania. Each alpha has been given a kingdom and the Alpha of all Alphas described in the previous writing is the king of Francia.
High north is Scandinavia, with the realm of the gods, Walhalla. Not exactly a kingdom, but it’s a place where my main character will find many answers.
The werewolves move from one kingdom to another walking, they can walk long distances in just a few days due to their resilience. They do it only during the night, through forests.
As the story takes place in the XVIII century, humans move around in carts or obviously walking if distances are short.
(I might come back to this writing as ideas pop up.)
