Write a poem exploring feelings of contentment and satisfaction.
While a large portion of poetry deals with difficult emotions; consider how you can express the opposite side of that.

What is like to be content?
It is having the peace of mind, rather a quiet mind where your thoughts are clear and not off the tracks.
It is being happy and with those who you love the most and hold close to you.
It is being free and not controlled by the people around you.
It is being there wherever you may be and feeling comfortable in the skin you wear.
So what is satisfaction?
Satisfaction is being satisfied with what you have, not needing anything else but the animals or people around you.
It is feeling satisfied whether that is by eating enough food to make you feel satisfied. Or doing a job you thought you once couldn’t do but now can.
Satisfaction and contentment, both have different meanings but they are similar to one another.
Being satisfied and content to be in your own company is what you need.
It’s not as easy as I say it is, I know but once you master these feelings and truly be content than you will be satisfied with what you have.
This isn't meant to be anything weird or preachy, I just thought I'd share my feelings at sessions when we're worshipping at the church trip I'm at. There's really nothing like feeling everyone's voice come together and go echo the ground.
Satisfaction? Huh?
I’ve heard about it. The fairytales;
The queen with her crown. The king with his throne. The mermaid with her sea. The princess and her prince.
What I wouldn’t give- To feel safe and loved. For my scars and my pain. For my past and my monsters.
What I wouldn’t give- To look in the mirror, And see past the hurt. The scars and marks.
I run my hands over the claw marks- On my hips, sometimes I remember. The bits and pieces- of what… hhhh… of what was done.
I won’t ever see true satisfaction. Not if I still have mirrors and haters. Not if I still have a past I remember.
No, I’m just as broken as all the mirrors— I put my fist into.
What a beautiful thing it is to find satisfaction In all the little things around me, a unique attraction Animals bring joy with their playful delight Laughing until I'm crying, a pure and wondrous sight How I can clearly see Jesus in all His creations, His never ending light.
Brownies and coffee, a delectable treat Red wine and fresh sheets, a cozy retreat Sunsets and sunrises, painted cotton candy skies Perfume and bright flowers, nature's sweet surprise
Laser tag and games, creating memories to keep Being with my family, a love so deep Writing and new songs, expressions of the soul A clean house and shopping sprees, making life whole
Holidays and new pajamas, a festive cheer Fun colored hair and clean glasses, bringing a smile near Pop rocks and crocs, unconventional delights Finding money in my pockets, unexpected sights
Skincare and making others feel their best Learning new things, an eternal quest Hugs and nostalgic stories, connections we share Harry Potter and Hello Kitty, characters who care
Office supplies and fishing, simple pleasures abound Sunshine and tan skin, happiness profound Sandcastles and my nephew Hank, innocence untamed My best friend Savanna, a bond not easily framed
Windows down, Luke Combs playing in the car The sound of my pets' paws, never too far A hot bath and a sense of accomplishment achieved Painting and pillows, comfort and relief
Perfect matching accessories, a rhythmic delight Plants and seeing my mom happy, a heart so bright Long showers and mountains, tranquility in view Rain storms and late-night talks, friendships renewed
Snugging and football games in the fall Scary movies, adrenaline's call All these little things that satisfy my soul Appreciating life, making it whole
Contentment and satisfaction, they do not mean That I can't strive to be better, to fulfill my dreams But they remind me to cherish what I hold dear To find joy in the present, not always chasing what's near
So, I'll continue to appreciate all these little things With gratitude and love, my heart sings For they make life worth living, each and every day A beautiful tapestry, in their own special way.
Even the sun danced and skipped across her skin Her hips swayed as if the air around it was connecting manifesting complimenting her every move Her feet tapped and leaped effortlessly twirling her around the wooden floor My perfect little ballerina I couldn’t be more content loved In that moment I was yours
Fingertips gripping the bed sheets tightly, midnight black against my hunter green painted finger nails. Chest heaving, rising and falling rapidly as I gasp for air amidst the coming climax. Sweat glistening off my chest and brow, as a once bristling cold room was now sweltering and sultry. The walls echo back at me over the tempo of the music, relentless on drowning me out. Gentle touches turn into heated embraces, neck biting, and tortured whimpers. The need to be closer rising steadily with each gargled breath and passionate stroke of the hand. One touch is never enough as bodies turn into tangled limbs and meshed souls.
The thud above me. The simmer beside. The laughter scattered about the hallway. The way the sun decorates a pillow. The knowledge of traffic. The scent of candles. The yawns and sniffs. The musing. And I can’t help but thank the mundane for its company. With a breath and a grin, I ask it to stay.
Oh me, oh my, How great this day! Such wonders to behold. Though the skies are dull & grey, My eyes see shades of gold
For this day I found the thing for which I long have strived. My heart and soul now rise and sing. I know I am alive.
I am content and satisfied,
And I feel so elated.
For once it’s happy tears I’ve cried
For the feelings now created.
So listen now my dearest friend, And catch me if you can. For as the day draws to its end, I am a happy man.
