Chapter 1
Two young vampires, Dove and Raven, Raven being a newly bitten vampire with curly black hair, while Dove being a vampire for life with soft white hair, were sitting in the small, wooden cottage in their clan.
Dove was sitting on the edge of her bed, listening to Raven ramble questions off at her. “So, we can shapeshift into bats, right?” Raven asked, her inky curls bouncing as she ran her finger on the side of her neck; where she had been bitten just two days ago, and was transformed into a vampire.
“A common misconception, actually. We vampires can shapeshift into many different animals.” Dove replied, swinging her legs as she sat on the bed. “Bats are actually a hard form to master.” Raven took that as a challenge, lifting her chin high and speaking in a cocky tone. “I’m sure it’s not that hard! I’ll try!”
She closed her eyes and pictured herself as a fluffy black bat flying across a midnight sky. She could feel herself changing as she stood in front of Dove.
When she opened her silver eyes again, she was a…hamster? Dove was laughing, clearly amused that Raven’s cocky attitude didn’t work out too well for her.
“I told you!” Dove smirked, wiping a tear from laughter from her eye. “You’re a cute hamster, though.” Dove said, looking down at the now tiny, fluffy Raven. Raven grumbled, pouting slightly and quickly changed back into her vampire form, sitting next to Dove on the bed.
“So, what animals can you change into, Dove?” Raven questioned, looking at Dove with curiosity in her eyes. “Well, being a pureblood vampire, which is rare these days, I can change any animal non-pureblood vampires can, but with white fur instead of black. Not all pureblood vampires are like that though, I’m actually fairly rare.” Dove said, her blue eyes shining as she spoke with pride.
Then, Dove transformed into a beautiful white cat, with sharp claws and soft ears. “This form is my favorite form, it helps me—“ Dove was cut off by a loud knock on the door, and she quickly changed back into her vampire form.
“Hello…Hazel? What are you doing here?!” Dove growled as she opened up the door. In front of her stood a young, slender, dark skinned girl with fluffy gray wolf ears and sharp fangs. Her tail twitched side to side nervously and her gaze was down as she spoke to the teenage vampire.
“I’m sorry for intruding, Dove, but the Werewolf Clan needs your help! Our allies, and yours, the Kitsune Clan, are being attacked by the Selkie Clan!” Hazel barked, her voice trembling with worry. Dove could hear the fear in the werewolf’s tone, and gave a reluctant sigh, motioning for Raven to get off the bed and come next to her.” Fine, we’ll help you, but don’t think this makes us ‘friends.’ We’re only doing this for the Kitsune Clan.”
Hazel nodded hastily, and led Dove out of the small cottage they were in, and into the sun. Dove shuddered slightly, she wasn’t a fan of the sun, but the legends were false. They wouldn’t shrivel up in the sun, they just aren’t huge fans of it. Dove looked around the Clan, seeing several other vampires and werewolves gathered around to listen to their leaders.
The Vampire leader, Scarlet, was a pureblood like Dove, with glowing red eyes and some of the sharpest fangs Dove had seen.
The Alpha of the werewolves, Tooth, was a tall, strong man, with dark skin and yellow eyes. His hair was black with streaks of white, swooped to the side.
“This is a…temporary alliance while we save the Kitsunes.” Tooth growled. He was in wolf form, his fur long and glossy as he stood in the sun.
Next, Scarlet spoke. “Let’s go, its still morning and the Selkie clan with be tired since its early, our perfect time to strike. And for you my vampires, please change into your wolf form, it’s best to stay blent in.”
Dove and all of the vampires quickly changed into their wolf form, almost all of them as black as midnight, except for Dove and a few others, who were white.
Raven struggled to shapeshift into the right form, but after much effort, she finally mastered it. Scarlet gave a small bark for her clan to follow her into the woods, and Tooth did the same. Raven felt a lump in her throat as she marched in the woods, staying close to Dove. She felt a bit scared; would she be ready to fight her first battle as a vampire? The last thing she wanted was to let her new Clan down.
Dove gave Raven a small nudge, concern etched on her face. “Hey, are you okay?” Dove asked, her voice soft and smooth as her fur sparkled in the sun. Raven gulped slightly, “I-I’m fine, I just don’t want to let my Clan down…” She mumbled, her gaze drifted to her gray-black paws. Dove used her soft white tail to lift Raven’s chin up. “You’ll do great, I have faith in you.”

“You expect me to follow her into the forests?” Arden asked, waving an exasperated hand in my face.
“We don’t have much choice, Arden. It is either her or we convince Dankworth and I’d much rather traverse The Four with Crux than a whining man-child.” Arden’s face crumbles into something like compliance as Feya steps forth and for the first time I see her be something more than unruly and unjust, I see her seem almost human.
“Feya,” Arden’s voice is woven with question, “Are you truly willing to risk it? For an untaught Phthalo? For her?”
Feya is silent as she looks between Arden and me. I fight the sneer curling my lip at the contempt they project, mellowing and masking for something more pleasant, more convincing. Feya finally speaks, voice as gravely as always, “Yes.”
Arden stares, unblinking. Her eyes flash that inhuman colour, luminescent yellow flecked with a rich gold and Feya’s glow right back, a deep monstrous blue, bright and unforgiving. Arden spits, “Fine.”
Lesson Learned
A deep shadow appeared behind her under some tree leaves. "Oh Bonnie..." its words echo on the wind.
Bonnie freezes and tosses her flowy green and blue cloak to the side. "What do you want?"
"You mean, what do you want, my Lord?" It laughs.
She grinds her teeth and rolls her eyes. "Yes. What do you want my Lord?"
"Well, since you're being so disrespectful already, I just might fulfil my threat now." It moves its hand and a flame spurts out. It moves it closer to the tree.
Bonnie gasped and spun around. She rushed forward and managed to snuff the small fire out before it spread. "Please, not yet. I-I still have until the blood moon."
It flicks its hand. "Fine. So much for fun. You remember what ya got to do?"
Bonnie nods and wipes some sweat onto her dress sleeve.
"Fine. Don't betray my trust." It dragged out every letter before disappearing.
Bonnie took a deep breath. Free for now. She told herself. Free for now.
꧁----------꧂
Bonnie walked slowly through her castle halls, glancing up at every torch suspended in metal holders.
"Bonnie! There you are dear!" Berry exclaims. "I've been looking for you everywhere."
"Sorry Berry. I was just outside taking a stroll." Bonnie tried to smile.
"You seem sad dear. What's on your mind?" Berry asked. His hoof steps echo through the halls.
"It's just-" Bonnie stopped and turned to him.
He did the same with the question all over his face.
"Nevermind. You may never understand." Bonnie whispered.
Berry lifted a hoof and lifted Bonnie's chin up. "Focus. I will understand. I've seen far more then you have, my Queen."
Bonnie smiled. "I appreciate that Berry. Quick, follow me. If you want to know, we have to go to my bedroom. That the only place where it can't go."
"It-?" Berry was cut short when Bonnie jerked him toward a flowery door.
She pulled him in and sat on her bed. "The shadow. It always shows up the most random times. A few years back, during a dark time, I made a deal with it. Before I was Queen. I was to get Pine into its realm and it would do the rest. In return, I would become the most great Queen in all the land. But it doesn't seem worth it anymore." Bonnie buried her face in her hands. "I don't know what to do, Berry." she sobbed.
"Well, um, you've certainly gotten yourself in a situation." Berry stated.
A new voice joined. "Bonnie, you've broken my trust..."
Berry gulped. "Is that...? I thought you said he couldn't come in here!"
Bonnie looked up. "I thought he couldn't." Her eyes suddenly grew wide. "Berry, run. Find Pine."
Berry bolted to the door. It reached dark tendrils at Bonnie and grabbed her furiously. Berry glanced back once.
"No! Go find Pine!" Bonnie struggled against the shadow. "Tell him what happened and don't stop until you-" Bonnie pushed against the shadows tight grip. "Until you do!"
Berry ran and ran and never looked back.
Bonnie ripped away one of her hands, but it was relentless, and grabbed her wrist again.
"Why do you always have to do everything yourself?" it growled, finally smothering Bonnie.
It stayed for a few seconds, until growing smaller. Bonnie gasped for air, and stood up. She turned around and looked straight into the mirror behind her. Her eyes were a glowing green. Her face contorted into a smile and she laughed sinisterly.
The Tribe Of Bounding Fog (Part 2)
“Ruby! Ruby! Are you okay?” Leaf yelled as she skirted to a stop behind her startled friend. The pretty, ginger feline stood frozen, her eyes wide with shock as she stared at a hazel bush. “Is everything okay, Ruby?” Leaf asked her again, checking the air to see if she could detect what Ruby was so stricken about. Leaf’s ears flew up as rustles came from the bushes. Three shapes emerged from the undergrowth, their mouths curled into a snarl and teeth bared. They kept their ground as they shot hostile glares at the two felines. Ruby whimpered and stepped back, flicking her tail with weariness.
The front one started laughing, “Twig! Rose! These two are just wimps, lets keep going, they can’t do anything!” They laughed. A calico spotted she cat chuckled, “What are you so scared about? Three unknown cats? Get used to it!” She cackled. Leaf hissed at them, but before she could do anything, a shape crushed onto the lead cat, making them yowl in shock and pain. It was Drop.
The quiet she pinned them down and glared at the other two mysterious cats. She turned her gaze back to Ruby and Leaf, “Go get the others! I got them handled from here…” she whispered, an unsettling tone flowing through her voice.
Ruby leaped away into the forest, sprinting back to the others. Leaf watched as the calico lunged at Drop, but the dark pelted feline flung her unsheathed paw over her and into the ground, unmoved by the calico’s sudden attack. leaf turned and ran after Ruby, her tortoiseshell paws skimming the earth as she flew over the overgrown ground.
Scared and panting, the two she cats reached the other’s sides. “What happened?” Owl shrieked, with Dazzle right behind him. Ruby gasped for air, “three intruders on our territory! Drop is attackng them!” She answered. Owl and Dazzle pelted off into the forest, Leaf and the shocked ginger feline behind them.
As they reached Drop, the dark feline had two of the most hostile intruders on their sides, with their eyes wild from fear of their attacker. The last cat was fightened and small, they huddled next to a tall tree, whimpering as it’s two companions lay wounded on the ground. Drop turned to face the others, “everything has been taken care of” she breathed. Leaf watched her leap off her opponents, her pretty pelt only had a few scratched and bites.
The three Mist Runners picked the two wounded cats up, “lets bring them back to Mist that Covers Sky,” Dazzle meowed, “he will know what to do.” Ruby looked hesitant, “why bring them back to camp? They’re clearly hostile!” She whined. Owl shrugged, “they seem scared of Drop. Leaf, fetch that other cat, bring them back aswell.” He ordered.
Leaf made her way to the stricken cat, she pulled at their tail to get up. They were a light brown cat with dark brown spots, they looked up at Leaf with wild eyes. “P-please don’t hurt me…!” He whimpered. Leaf sighed sympathetically, “I won’t hurt you!” She told him, helping him to his paws.
The group set out back to camp, with the intruders stareing at Drop with fearsome eyes. She glared back at them, but didn’t say anything.
Crimson and Sky (part 8)
(WARNING: This part is actually kinda violent)
“Attack!”
Creatures of all the magical clans suddenly launched into battle, their claws unsheathed and teeth bared. Aqua shoved Sky to the ground, raising a unsheathed paw. Sky hissed and kicked up with her back legs, turning away from her grasp and scratching her claws over one side of the Clan of Water’s ruler. The ruler snarled and brought her teeth down onto Sky’s bushy tail. The Cloud ruler yowled and brought her paw down on her head pushing her to the ground. She kicked Aqua harshly and ran somewhere else onto the battlefield. She recognized Frost-storm and Gray with a Clan of Forest creature attacking multiple other creatures on the opposite clan, their eyes wild with hostility.
Suddenly, a harsh bite in Sky’s side made her howl in agony and fell to the ground. Seaweed was attacking, raising both of her treacherous paws to swipe at her. Sky braced herself, but felt nothing. She looked up to see Seaweed yowling in the air as Crimson tossed her up and hit her into the ground. “keep going!” He hissed to Sky as she raced off deeper into the field. Suddenly she saw Lightning, shuddering in fear as a tall Clan of Water creature approached her with unmerciful eyes. Sky screeched and leaped onto his back, clawing at his scales and pulling him down, “hide in the trees!” Sky told the horrified Lightning. Shuddering, the small creature dashed up into the trees.
+*+
Pastel hit the ground hard, her breath being knocked out of her. A yellow and cyan scaled Clan of Water creature had knocked her down, and was biting her ear until it felt numb. A flash of dark gray suddenly came by and was clawing the creatures ears until, it also yowled for mercy. It was Frost-storm, who had long scratches down her pelt and forelegs. She let the creature loose and it dashed off into the forest with a long yell. “Serves you right!” Frost-storm yelled after her. She helped Pastel to her paws and ran off with her tail streaming after her.
Pastel split up from her to help Gray, who was fighting two Clan of Water creatures. She took the side of one and knocked their back legs from under them, she pinned held them down but didn’t hurt them, she noticed he was unharmed and small. “Run back to your camp. I won’t hurt you.” The young creatures eyes showed a mix of hostility and thankfulness. He gave her a look, and Pastel let him loose into the forest.
A few of these creatures are to small to be here!
Pastel came to two horrified Clan of Water creatures and soothed the with a soft voice, “I won’t hurt you okay? C’mon let’s get you out of this war.” The two creatures were horrified and their eyes were overflowed with anxiety. They swiftly followed her and murmured ‘thank you’ to her as they reached the end of the small field and ran off into the forest.
Suddenly the rest of the Clan of Water thundered away, only leaving Aqua there. The fearsome and scratched ruler glared at the two Clans, “You’ve won this battle! But that doesn’t mean we won’t get our revenge!” She yowled with her teeth bared. She leaped over a fallen branch and ran into the forest, hissing.
Pastel looked around at the field, everyone was helping each other and pulling other creatures up into the trees.
“Gray! Frost-storm!”
Pastel pushed her way through the crowd until she saw the wounded Clan of Cloud creatures. She brushed her tail along her friend’s side. “Are you okay?” She asked.
Gray nodded, but looked toward Frost-storm worried. “She launched herself onto a really tall Clan of Water creature. I’m sure he was gonna turn her into a sea-snack.” He snarled. But Frost-storms eyes showed with challenge and bravery. “But you saw how I attacked his legs! I don’t think I needed your help, brother!” She laughed.
Gray sighed, “if I hadn’t leaped in, I’m sure he would’ve turned you into a pretzel.” He muttered lowly.
(Well this was a long part! Sorry about that.)
Crimson and Sky (part 7)
(WARNING: this part has fighting and hostile descriptions in it)
All the creatures of the two clans gathered behind their rulers, baring their teeth at the overly hostile Clan Of Water creatures. The one in the front quivered, but kept a fiery gaze that burned straight into Sky’s pelt. “Coral! Reef! Rush back to camp and alert Aqua! Tell her to bring every one,” she barked. She had teal scales and a light green tail, with pretty fins that danced in the wind. The two creatures in the back darted off, leaving three of them. “What do you want?” She spat, her voice showing no care. Sky crept forward and met her face, “you know why we’re here stupid!” She growled. The three remaining creatures hissed and swiped at Sky’s face, missing her by a whisker. Before anyone knew it, Sky launched on top of the hostile creature, catching her off guard. With that, the three others jumped in to help the surprised director. Crimson and several others clawed at their backs, and heaved them off of Sky, clawing their tails. Sky sprang up, her back arched up and her mouth curled into a snarl. Scratches ran down her pelt, but she still had a glint of challenge in her shocked crystal eyes. Crimson bristled, and every other creature cornered them, letting them know they wouldn’t make it out if they attacked once again. The lead one let her fearsome gaze rest, “I’m Seaweed, and this is Squid and Prismarine.” She flicked her scratched tail to them. Both of them didn’t like that she had revealed their names, but replied with a curt nod. “What do you want from us?” “Peace, Seaweed. We want peace between the Clan of Water and us.” Sky spoke thoughtfully. Seaweed looked at her with a discussed look, “peace is not for me to decide,” she stated. Crimson stepped forth, “but Aqua can, bring us to her shall you?” He spoke challengingly. Seaweed’s scales arched along her back, “you can wait until they get back.” She hissed. “Who knew these creatures could be so rude.” Sky hissed under her breath to Crimson. After a long stare down, tens and tens of Clan of Water creatures emerged from the undergrowth, hissing and snarling with their shiny claws forth. They moved to the side as a mixed colored creature emerged. She had a diamond colored tail and eyes that sparkled with beauty. She came to the rulers with a calm trot, but had her gaze narrowed. She dipped her head slightly to them, “greeting, Sky and Crimson.” She began, “I’m Aqua, ruler of the Clan of Water.” She breathed, pride raising in her voice. The Clan of Clouds and Forest’s rulers let their guard fall slightly, “greeting to you as well, Aqua. We stand here because of your doing.” They said. Aqua suddenly bristled, and so did the others of her clan, “nonsense” she barked. Sky stepped forward, “correct yourself, it’s true, and you know that better than anyone else.” Aqua didn’t like the talk back, she snarled and let her tail bristle. “So we crossed borders? Are you not seeing that you are doing it yourself?” The Clan of Water ruler said coldly. Sky and Crimson glared, “we crossed them for justice. You crossed them because you think you can get whatever you want.” Aqua had enough. “Attack!” She called. And with that, the battle had begun.
(Sorry I haven’t posted in awhile!)
The Real Truth
Witches and Fairies.
They have been opposites since the beginning of time, almost mirroring images of one another. Different sides of the same coin.
Fairies are the good guys. They have sparkly wings and star tipped wands. They wear pink and pastels and showered in glitter. They use their magic for good.
Witches are the enemy. They wear black makeup and dark clothes. Black cats are their partners in crime. They are the embodiments of evil. They practice black magic.
But that’s not how it began.
Once upon a time, they were one in the same.
There were no born witches. Everyone was born a fairy.
But something changed. The power shifted.
The counsel of fairies decided that the criminals deserved a harsher punishment. All fairies with a record would be banished and have their wings taken away. Their light magic would be stripped.
These fairies still had the potential for magic, but with no light magic, the affinity for dark capabilities manifested.
As more witches and fairies are born and generations grow, the history of the beginning of witches fade. Until it is a just a story, a legend.
Told from two different sides.
The distortions to the history fuels the hate and judgements.
The worst battles are when both sides think they are right.
Crimson and Sky (part 6)
The rain had finally stopped, reminding the soaked clans on why they were here. Sky shook her cloud pelt lightly, and jumped to the wet ground with hunger. The Clan of Clouds and Forest started to descend from their tree branches and came to Sky and Crimson to see what was next. “I’m starving,” a creature from the Clan of Forest growled, twitching his ears to the creatures behind him. Crimson narrowed his orange eyes, “every creature is, Acorn,” he replied dryly. Sky clawed the moist earth beneath her, they were deep in the Clan of Water’s territory. They had to find them immediately. “We are still in a territory that we have no knowledge of,” Sky reminded them, wiping her cloud tail over the long grass. Creatures began to send unappreciative calls; “We know they live in water! Why have territory if they can eat fish?” “They have boundaries for a reason, don’t they?” “I say we just take what we can get, there’s tons of us anyway” Sky couldn’t help but growl, who knew creatures could get so annoyed when they were hungry. Crimson’s fur bristled, “these creatures have boundaries. When there’s boundaries, that means we cannot steal from it. Have you all lost your sense?” He growled lowly. Sky flicked her tail over his forelegs, “we’ll decide what to do,” she told the famished creatures. Crimson followed her behind the oak tree, sitting in a patch of dew covered ferns as he waited for Sky to join him. Sky sat down, looking back at the two grumpy clans. “What do you think?” She breathed, tapping a paw over the ground to show him that she needed a quick answer. “You know boundaries Sky, we fought over them for years. We can’t just take what we want from their territory. They marked boundaries for a reason,” Crimson answered her silence. Sky twitched, sheathing and unsheathing her claws as she looked back at the clans, “our clans have a point though, if they live underwater, why hunt above ground? They can’t bring it down there.” Sky stated. Crimson blinked, surprised on Sky’s response, but finally sighed and spoke, “ my Clan does eat shrubs and ferns” he muttered, “we can eat those, but it won’t satisfy us like prey.” Sky twitched, “you eat plants? Never mind, I say the Clan of Clouds just take a bit of prey, your clan can…” She made a gross face, “you can eat plants. But not my clan.” Sky uttered, blinking her unchangeable eyes. Crimson made a slight glare, “I feel like you’re breaking multiple things.” He told her, rising to his insecure paws and padding off with a flick of his tail. Sky watched him go, narrowing her eyes. She drove herself back to her clan, “we’ll hunt, but you mustn’t achieve much, share your finding with each other-“ A sharp paw touched Sky’s side. She yanked around and growled when it was Crimson. “What.” She hissed, lashing her tail out to show she wasn’t happy with him. “Don’t you hear that?” Sky shut her mouth and reached out to her surroundings. Somewhere near, she could hear voices, and not the clan’s. “Who’s that?” She whispered to Crimson, unsheathing her claws as the voices drew nearer. Crimson didn’t answer and instead started to snarl at a shaking bush. Five lithe shapes emerged from the wet bushes, their faces glazed with shock and hostility. They’re scaled pelts had tons of vibrant colors, with long fins along the sides of their faces. The creature in the front, stepped out of the shadows, baring her teeth into a snarl. Her eyes were narrowed into hostile slits, her fins quivered as she saw how many creatures there was. “The Clan of Clouds and Forest I presume?” She snapped, her claws unsheathed. Sky and Crimson walked forward, reflecting the hostile gaze. “Yes” the two leaders told them, “and we’ve come to deal with you.”
Crimson and Sky (part 5)
Sky and Crimson ran until they saw their soaking wet clans resting in a small clearing. They had climbed into trees to try and stay sheltered from the beating rain, while some of them were drinking the fallen water from the dark sky through puddles. Crimson clawed his way up a large oak tree, letting his tail fall over the branch. Sky was to tired to move another paw step. She sat at the trunk of a tree, falling to the ground with an exhausted sigh. Heavy rain sank into her cloud pelt, making it impossible for her to gain any cover form the tree. Annoyed, Sky rose once more to her weary paws and tried to climb up the tree Crimson lay in. She leaped up and clawed up the rest of the way to a dry branch. Crimson was wiping his disgusting pelt of mud and soaking leaves off with loose bark, “Our fun race turned into an issue” He grumbled under his breath as he pulled a twig out of his back. Sky was to exhausted to speak, she rested her eyes and let herself drowse to sleep. +*+ Pastel dug her teeth into tiny twigs and pulled them out of her matted forest pelt. Two Clan of Clouds members were having trouble pulling forest remains out of their fluffy coats of fur. “Here you pull them out like this,” she murmured to one of them, tired of watching him struggling. “Thanks” he murmured,” letting his bristled tail lie flat. Pastel grabbed the end of a sharp twig and untangled it from the Clan of Cloud cat’s fur. “There” she said, tossing the twig off the branch. The creature nodded his gray spotted head. “Appreciated’, he answered. “Can you help me?” The other cloud creature asked, lifting a paw in question. Pastel nodded, and cleared out the tangles of ferns and wet leaves from the cloudy dark gray she’s fur. The Cloud members cleaned off the mud on their paws and rested their heads. “My name’s Froststorm by the way,” the dark gray creature murmured, her eyes shut gently. Pastel nodded, “I’m Pastel” she’d answer. The other cloud creature smiled, “and I’m Gray.” Pastel nodded her brown striped head, “It’s good to finally meet creatures outside my Clan” she’d tell them, laying on her back as she looked up at the rain covered leaves. Froststorm and Gray agreed, “Once I left the clouds to find someone who wasn’t in our Clan” Froststorm would admit, moving her dark tail as she spoke. “Creatures get annoying sometimes” Gray laughed. Pastel felt a smile form on her face, she’d finally made some interesting friends.
(Sorry this part wasn’t so entertaining! We’ll get back on the exciting pace in part 6!)
Clan’s Fate
After days of negotiating, I scowled, still unwilling to give in to Isolde’s plea for an alliance, even if it was temporary. She sounded so desperate, which made it annoyingly hard to ignore her and Storm off.
“Caliban, please-“ Isolde’s plea echoed through my mind, sticking like a parasite. But the way her voice broke like she was on the verge of a mental breakdown. I can’t believe I’m saying this, the vulnerability she laid bare in that plea pulled at my heart strings.
Forcing myself to turn away, I growled, “Stop trying, Isolde. It’s pointless and a waist of breath.” I said in a low, warning tone.
“My clan is dying-“ she insisted, unrelenting. her voice was hardly more than a trembling whisper, laced with desperation, and her legs seamed ready to give out under her.
“Yours will be next. It’s inevitable-“ Isolde continued, wiping her tears. It proved futile, however. They were streaming down her face too fast for her to keep up.
I looked back at her with slightly less reluctance than before, which I tried not to show. What did she want me to do? Suddenly break the norm and agree to unite the clans?
Suddenly, while I was still contemplating everything, I reacted on instinct when Isolde collapse, her body unable to support her weight any longer. My arms hooked under hers, catching her before she fell. Her sudden fall took me by surprise.
She felt limp. Her skin had grown pale, her breaths came short and labored, and her body was trembling. And to my own surprise, it worried me.
We remained like that for a few more silent moments, my arms supporting her weight. Her vulnerability was slowly chipping away at my reluctance. Besides, if what she said was true, I’m not cold hearted enough to let an entire clan die off, rivals or not.
If I did turn a blind eye to this, if the clan did die, would it not be partially my fault? Wouldn’t their blood be on my hands too for not taking action while I still could?
“Alright,” I relented with a sigh, surprisinging myself at the gentleness in my usually cold toned voice. “Please, Isolde. Help me understand. What exactly is threatening you and your people?” I asked, trying a gentle approach, hoping to coax the details out of her seemingly fragile form.
“We’ll try to unite the clans,” It wasn’t a promise, and yet it wasn’t a rejection either. And Isolde seamed to accept that. She managed a small nod, her tear stained face downcast as I continued to support her limp form.
(Not my best, but hey. Its something.)
