This simple ugly sweater

I wear no matter the weather

Soft wool whispers

A comfort so tight

Hiding stories out of sight

Stitched seams tell of a story where warriors live,

Hiding the wounds that the eyes seem to give.

Warm touch embraces patterns fingers can weave,

Healers exist, if hard to perceive.

Shadows from red, cradle the pain,

Here in the sweater, I feel light from the strain. ...

It’s Ugly, I Know

It’s ugly, I know.

‘Why would you choose those colors?’

I didn’t.

‘Who would use this yarn?’

Not me.

‘It’s 100 degrees, why are you wearing this?’

I’m cold.

‘Why would you wear this?’

It’s ugly, I know.

‘I would never wear that. Why do you?’

Well,

You didn’t see her hands twisting the yarn.

You didn’t hear her excited gasps as she hid it behind her back.

You didn’t see the marks on her finger wher...

The Ugly Sweater Changed My Life

I’m starting to get cold .and I did not have a jacket. I passed a used clothing store and bought an ugly used purple sweater. The color was a faded orange and purple ,with holes on the elbows with no buttons. It fit and it was only $1 dollar. I am not a rich man, so it was good enough to wear to keep warm until I got home.As I was taking it off, I noticed something in the pocket. It was a winn...

A Different Perspective.

It’s impossiblely ugly this sweater, but I wear it each week, no matter the weather.

Green on the left, yellow to the right, with a big red center it must look a fright.

It’s baggy and lose, and not well fitted, but you said you liked it once and that I remember.

Yours

“None of my jumpers fit” I lie,

Raiding your closet.

Your scent, your past days,

I want to live within them,

Like your memories are my present.

I wore it for weeks,

Days and days on end.

I slept with it,

Pretending you were with me.

I will never take you off of me.

Anything to be with you.

You are an extension of my being,

Like a branch on a tree,

A petal on a flower.

Sweater

Tattered threads weave a story of lovers who used to be,

And ugly recreation of a beautiful tapestry.

Lingering in the fabric, echoes of what once was,

Treasured hues of paint streaked across a cracked marble vase.

My brain, it’s duly forsaken you,

While my sutured heart aches with the pain of two.

Sewing needles weave my shattered heart back together,

The very same threads that wove this very ...

Distraction Attraction

“It’s impossibly ugly

-this sweater-

but I wear it each week,

no matter the weather”

it’s my woolen shield

it takes the glances and the stares

so

my face can rest

or

in any other expression it wants,

Unseen....

Ugly Sweater

It’s impossible ugly, this sweater,

Yet I wear it each week, no matter the weather.

Even when it’s blazing hot,

And they shout, “Take off that ugly sweater!”

Uhmmm… I think not!

If I could, I’d wear it for a swim,

Because this sweater reminds me of him....

Such an ugly sweater

"It's such an ugly sweater." I murmur to my reflection. It's tight and has this ugly pattern on the back. The sentiment is shared by a lot of people. They've let their opinion be known time and time again after all. I didn't take too much offense, I agree. But I wear it each week, no matter the weather, no matter the comment. I couldn't care less.

Ugly and I don't care

It’s impossibly ugly this sweater,

But I wear it each week, no matter the weather.

Glasses and braces, but I'm like "whatever"

"It's not like any of this is gonna be forever."

I walk through the front door, I feel my heart racing

I try to walk straight, nobody I'll be facing

Melinda says, "Hey, braceface with the ugly sweater!"

"Is that from a dump?" But I just say "Whatever."

Then I walk away...
