How are you?
Really, are you okay?
Today must’ve been a hard game to play
Putting on a face of joy
And pretending the world is like a toy
Maybe if you just play along you’ll make it to the next day
But that is really not the way
Focusing on the future makes the day go by
But you really need to look deeper than the normal rise and shine
Look at the sun performing twice a day
And the birds singing ...
The sun still shines
Amongst the broken hearted
We all all still live
In a land that gives us blessings
A grateful attitude for what we do have
A life
A wife
A place to live
We have food on the table
And a roof over our heads
Let's all have gratitude
For the things we have
And don't dwell on the things we don't...
I hadn’t seen it
did I ever really look?
to see the love in pain
to see destiny in a paintbrush
to see copper in the sky
to see fortune in lessons hard learned
to see beauty rise from decay
see glimmers within my tears
and a strange sense of knowing
the softness in a rock
fast water as an ally
and fire as an opportunity
the spark inside you
kindles desire inside me
for healing
I will sit wi...
The voice coated with honey on the other side of the phone, sweetening my ears, I know that honey loves me. A morning to myself, a pit bull and local Vermont coffee. A collection of plants I’ve acquired and shower every Sunday, oblivious to their individual needs, but they know I try and they stick around....
I’ll love you till Arby’s goes vegetarian
I’ll love you till a dog doesn’t go to heaven
I’ll love you till ten ain’t afraid of seven
On a scale from one to ten you’re an eleven
They say the honeymoon phase never lasts
But I’ve loved you more as the time has passed
I love you infinity
Cause an less just ain’t enough
I’ll love you when you look a mess
I’ll never love you any less
To you my heart ...
i sit
drenched in sweat
from working too hard
for far too little
with my gut
hanging over my jeans
and my nose
different than it was
ten years ago
bumped and battered
from the beer in my hand
and the cigarettes
in the ashtray
and
i think back
to when my wife met me
fifty pounds ago
before i was a drunk
when i smoked
a pack a week
instead of
a pack a day
when we knew i would
be a famous artist

I’m thankful that the weekend is only passed half way
Today I worked and so it felt more like a weekday
I’m thankful that I went out with friends tonight
Having dinner and drinks with them sure was a delight
I’m thankful that I can go home now to sleep and rest
After an active day, coming home sure is the best
I’m thankful that I have a free day tomorrow waiting for me
That I have no plans so that...
An avantgarde feeling,
Like honeycombs,
Too much of it sours the mind.
I’m thankful for the people in my life,
Despite the pain I cause.
I’m thankful for the children in the world,
Despite the sadness they endure.
I’m thankful for all the glorious things we’re capable of as humans,
Despite choosing all the gore.
I’m thankful for all the things I have seen,
All the past lives and all the ways my ...
I have a great life
But there’s a dark stain
made of permanent ink
It’s you
Once I almost had a panic attack
Because I thought I had a sip
of alcohol
That with one gulp
I would be like you
It wasn’t
Thankfully
But that fear
intense pit in my stomach
came from you
I’m grateful for my mom
I’m grateful for my sisters
For everyone who stayed
I’m even grateful for you
You taught me what not t...
